Kazmir

LAA just released Scott Kazmir, think the Twins will have any interest?

Kazmir was a stud with Tampa but he had some injury trouble with the Angels and then totally fell off the face of the planet. Right now he can't even get people out in the minors. He's probably not a solution for this year but LAA will pay the rest of his salary this season so you could get him for almost nothing. I'd like to see them bring him in and see if they can help him figure things out. He's only 27 and should have time to get his stuff back. Then he might be able to help us next year.

I don't see the Twins spending big money on an ace but if Kazmir can figure it out and pitch the way he was in Tampa he could be considered an ace type guy. This might be the only way we get an ace other than getting lucky through the draft.

I'd pass. His best year was 12-8 (winning percentage wise) and has a career.520 winning percentage. Year with the most wins he was 13-9. Been in the Major Leagues since 2004 and has only one complete game and only one shutout. Only twice has he pitched more than 180 innings in a year. Nothing about him says ace to me.

I would be cautious... He is a lefty with a pulse and was RELEASED, this means he is really off his game and they do not think he can get it back.

The price would be right though...

Yea what's this "ace" talk ? I remember his tampa days, he's been living off those days ever since. No need to bring him in we I think let slowey go and he's at least every bit Kazmir is at this time. If needed Perkins could be our 6th starter. No deal even if his salary is taken care of, not the time to rock our shaky slowly steadying boat.

He is a young lefty who has proven he can throw. I'm not saying he will be an ace for us but he has shown glimpses that he may have that type of stuff. Thats more than you can say for a lot of what we have right now. For whatever reason he hasn't been throwing well lately but if it doesn't cost you anything to send him to the minors to work on things then I don't see the harm.

I'm not saying he's going to save our season, our starters have been throwing real well as of late and there is no reason to make a change their. Frankly I doubt he'd even see in the inside of Target Field this season but if he can figure things out he may be someone you can look at next season. If he can get back to be even an average pitcher, the fact that he's young and a lefty makes him valuable as trade bait if nothing else.
