they work as advertised, i use them for everything from backyard camp fires to bear hunting and any activity your outside, ive tested them in a tree stand bear hunting by turning it off and watch the skeeters attack, turn it on again and shortly there gone, and not just off you, not around you at all, this all happens with little or no wind, there more effective,i have two of them and recomend them to everyone i know! get one. you will see,

With the wet spring weve had the skeeters are huge, get one soon!!!

good luck

mike.

Yes, they work great. Thinking of getting another.

Note that they're called "thermAcell", not "thermOcell". This will be important if you're googling around looking for either the unit or the refill kits.

I have bought 2 of them now....1 for the cabin (small lantern) and one for the boat...they are a must if you want to enjoy the outdoors without being attacked by mosquitoes!!! We used ours the first time and were convinced as we were being eaten alive sitting by a fire then we turned the "cell" on and didn't hear, feel, or see another squito all night. This past weekend we were on the deck enjoying the weather when we started to get bit so we brought out the "cell" and had no problems after that!!

It's not very often you find a bug product that works as claims, but as long as you don't have a strong wind they work as advertised. These are a must if spending time outdoors during the skeeter season.

Is it just me that has issues with the Thermacells? I get a reaction from them apparently.

As in if I am near them that is all I will taste in my mouth for a day or more. So I do not use them. Apparently I'm very sensitive to them? They work, but I avoid any contact with them. Even if I get too near them in the store I start to taste chemicals, even just by the displays....so I avoid them there too.

Anyone else notice this?

Ed it clearly says on the label that the chemical used is highly toxic to fish. It's quite apparent what's happening here. smile

Maybe some day I'll start reacting too, it's then I will know the transformation is starting.

I don't even carry bug spray with me anymore! If there's enough wind to offset the Thermacell its enough to keep the bugs at bay as well. I love it for camping, hiking, fishing, disc golfing, and even a bbq in the backyard, it's great.

Used it turkey hunting and it kept the skeeters and gnats away. I couldn't believe how well it worked. It was my first time trying it.

The mats say they last 4hrs and I got 4-5hrs out of one. Not sure about the butane. I haven't used mine that much yet. I know shackbash has written an article about refilling the butane cartridges.
