Bullheads for sale in the metro again

I have it on good authority that the Clark gas station / bait shop at Old Shakopee & 77 (Cedar) in Bloomington has filled the bullhead vacuum created by the demise of Moore's bait shop.

There has been some talk of this. Are you able to confirm at this time?

Cost for bullies seemed to vary with supply and demand. Typically do not cost as much for suckers and chubs. I recall hearing of prices creeping up over $1.00 when they were in short supply.

My catfishing buddy / cousin saw it with his own eyes last week and told me during easter dinner. He said the bullheads were running a bit small though.

Do you want a picture and a copy of my cousin's long form birth certificate? grin

I shoot past there on the way home from work, I'll stop in and look at what they are going for. I think I paid a buck and a quarter when I bought them at Moore's.

I was talking about catching it for personal use. Dozen bullies at $1.25/each is a case of good beer.

I think that is the why most the people that fish for catfish catch their own bait wink

maybe not so much for the beer but more so gas money for the boat?

LOL, if I had to buy all of my bait for a $1.25 each, I would have to sell my house! From May through June, I will have a minimum of 2 dozen for each person in the boat a night( usually 2 people), and I have ran out with that. I fish 5-7 nights a week. Um, rough estimate for a month, is more then my house payment!

Just stopped on the way home from work and they do have bullheads. $5 a dozen, didn't have a chance to see what size they were though. Cashiers were busy and they were not in the tanks with the rest of the minnows.

I think if I was going through hundreds of bullheads a week, I would think about setting up a bait tank in the garage and harvesting my own.

It's nice to have the option to just buy the dang things for those of us that don't have the time or space for a bait tank though.

Come Friday night on the way home from work, I'm thinking about getting to the launch ASAP, not about bullhead hunting.

bobby, I agree with you 100%! I do have my own tank, and I usually spend 1 day a week replenishing it. Come 530, end of my work day, I dont want to think about where I need to go to get bait, I want it in my tank, and just scoop up what I need, and be off. Unfortunately, my supply, doent always keep up with my demand, and I too have to buy them once in a while. Good thing, I know someone that has a tank, and stocks them, and fishes my neighborhood rather often. And delivers to me, if not, its a 15 minute drive.

I stopped in a checked out there current inventory. They are mostly 2-3"s with the biggest being about 7 and I only saw 1 or 2 of those. I talked with the kid working there for a bit and told him it might be good idea to get some bigger one's if possible. I filled him in on the legal length limit and few others things so hopefully the next batch when we actually need some will be a bit bigger.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
