Otters NEW Ice Houses

Recommended Posts

Yesterday I was just privelaged enough to see the NEW Line of Otter Ice Houses! All I can say is they are looking awesome! Some new concept ideas that are as like all Otter concepts, Tougher, Stronger, Smarter.

So keep a eye and ear out for Otter's new line up of Portable Ice Houses next season. I have a good feeling they are going to sell like Hotcakes.

Until next hard water season good fishin and be safe on the water.

I can not let the cat out of the bag just yet but I will say they are going to be top of the food chain. When I get the ok to get pics out I will.

The camo design has been a HOT seller in years past and with the improvements for next winter I expect great sales again. The camo design has been such a great seller that we sold all our Pro Series houses we brought in our truck to the St. Paul Ice Show last season. Not even one left for me. frown Yes some dont care for the blue camo but there will be another option next year and thats all I can say.

I cant wait to get out in one of these new Otters! Going to be a long summer waiting but thats ok. I love all seasons and the Lund is calling my name too.

I was not allowed to take pictures of any of the new designs its so "Top Secret". wink I will make sure that as soon as I get the ok I will post some pictures and give the details.

I upgraded last year. I like the lighter weight but the new fabric drips like crazy. There is nothing worse when your fishing LOW during a major cold front with water dripping down your back. I also broke 3 zippers on my last trip. I would be happy with the new pole design and the old style canvas tent.

mamohr686 What house did you upgrade to. The Wild or Pro Series? I cant believe you had 3 bad zippers. crazy I have never had 1 zipper go any any of the many Otters I have owned let alone 3 zippers in 1 trip?. There is only 2 zippers on a Otter house. confused(Please e-mail me on this one.)

One hint though is I drag a bar of soap across all my zippers that will get outdoor use and it really helps them stay free. I have heard of others using chap stick but I find a bar of soap easier to apply.

As far as the inside dripping I know this has been a problem in all non insulated ice houses when it is real cold and your burning propane.

Any more updates on the Otter line of houses. I currently have an Otter Lodge and looking to upgrade. Any idea on release dates or updates on Otter HSOforum. Just knowing which month to start looking would help. Looking at selling Lodge but want to see new product first.

Still an awsome protable. Burnt the zipper on a sunflower head but one is on top an one is on bottom, so i I have a 4 inch hole for ventilation. Hope to see the new line soon. Boar

where do you see they are dropping their prices??? There predator has been 799.99 for sometime now and I cant seam to find it any cheaper.
I have been seeing the same as you. I suspect that people are seeing them at retailers for reduced pricing, but I dont think Frabill actually lowered pricing. Not based on what I have seen anyway.

Is it wise to buy at the show? Wat can a guy expect to save if buying direct from a booth at the show? I bought a strike master suit at eelpout fest from a wholesaler an save 150 bucks. Thats half off from reatail stores. I would'nt expect that on a portable, but is it worth it? Boar

Years ago when I bought my first Otter a vendor at the show had a package deal that included seats and a tow cover for an already smokin' price and they paid the tax. Haven't been to the show in a few years now, but if you search around you can sometimes find those deals on about anything there if you work with them nicely.

Yeah, you have to pay to travel there, parking, admission, etc., but if you're shopping for a higher dollar item it can be worth it.

Well I'm looking to buy three of the Thermal Predator right now. So if anyone knows if there are any stores out there right now selling them for cheaper that 799.99 please let me know. I'm not going to pay the 150.00 to get it shipped either. I will just wait for the show if that is the case.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
