DEALS!

I've never seen the prices as low as they are at the sport show this year! I can't give specifics, but retail stores are wheelin and dealin like never before. If you have any time to stop down, I would highly suggest it!

I have had the pleasure of working the Northwest Sportshow for the last 15 years. Cecil is 100% correct. I'm sure it depends on which retailer and if and when you get the right sales dude. But I have seen rod/reel combos for some crazy prices. Besides, its better than looking out and seeing more stupid white stuff on the ground..

+1- I was toying around with the idea of trying the new Frabill Stormsuit (2010 Icast winner). I've got GuideWear that I'm happy with, but was still entertaining the thought. I asked if they (Thorne Bros) had show special on the Stormsuit....well, it was a no-brainer. Very good deals down there this year.

But the best deal of all was seeing your smiling face Cecil!!! Ha ha. grin

On a serious note, yeah, there are some killer deals at the show. Reed's had a deal with buying a Pflueger Patriarch spinning reel got you a free Fenwick HMG rod. Plus, all of the retailers at the show are REALLY motivated to wheel and deal on nearly everything.

I found a new transducer for about 1/2 off of retail --- two different places had them marked down that low.

Good thing my wife was with me to keep my spending under control, otherwise I would have easily have walked out of there with a new depth finder instead of just a transducer.

I think the key to getting a good deal is getting a good sales dude. You gotta find a guy who really knows his stuff and is going to offer you a good deal. I bought a new rod and reel at the show and saved $60 but I talked to three guys before I found the one that offered me that deal.

I could have spent thousands. I was tempted to go overboard but I simply have too much gear like most bass guys. Well, can we really have enough?? What is wrong with us? LOL.

I thinks its call FEDD (Fishing Equipment Deficit Disorder) No cure known yet smile

Same here. I found the place that gave me a 20% off a Mojo Bass Rod when other places did not offer.

About the best deal I received was talking to Gary Loomis for a half hour about rods. The amount of knowledge that man has about rod building and fishing in general is immense. I held a couple of his new heavy and medium heavy rods and the quality is very nice . The balance on the rods and sensitivity is as nice or better than my IMX's and at less than half the price. Ordered a heavy and medium heavy and will be trying them out this year. The C store is the only place that has them currently but demand is through the roof and the 2 models I wanted are backordered so I ordered them through TFO's HSOforum. Really impressed with the rods, more impressed by the man.

I see the same guy at MG and he always gives me great deals. Didn't buy anything from him this year though.

Yeah same here I always buy from the same guy at Joe's took me a while to find him this year though.

I saw a guy with Dittrich on the back of his jersey, so I was going to go introduce myself. The only think was, he was constantly surounded by a large group of people every time I walked by. Is this guy like a movie star or something? grin

Hardly.. LOL More than likely it was a bunch of people that wanted to look better.. Rumor has it if you stand next to some dork(The Dittrich Guy) you can make yourself look more cool..

In all serious, if I had my tourney jersey on, that was saturday. And good gawd, the show was rocking. I have not seen the Sportshow like that in about 5-6 years. It was crazy. Time flew by.

For the first time, in an long as I can remember, I bought nothing. Almost got twitches from withdrawl. Normally I have time to walk around and look, this year it was busy enough that I didnt. Which was nice.

I wish I could say I bought nothing! Well, I didn't buy anything other than what I was planning on buying... Does that count?

Either way, I can't wait to get the new rods in the boat!!
