Yeah, but like any retailer there are the eyes in the sky and secret shoppers everywhere. Most of the time the employees don't even know who these people are as employees are always the number one thevies.

I laugh because a hugh guy at the big c ran right by me full bore with a radio talking to him from his jacket. The eye in the sky was giving him directions. Other than his size you would think he was just another outdoorsman. I even remember a story earlier this year the big C caught a guy stealing binoculars in Rogers and the big C knew who this guy was the second he walked in the door. They were just waiting for him as he already hit up other big C stores.

They maybe thin with help but they will never be thin in security as it's the number one way the lose money.

The way it works for me is that when I come in they see me and jack up the prices. I never seem to get in on great deals. "Sorry sir, we just ran out of that model. We do have the nicer one though."

The shoes were really a good scam because the crooks would put expensive shoes in a non-expensive shoe box.

I kinda witnessed that yesterday. I went to go buy some shoes. They were about $70 or so. I found the box with my size and pulled them out to try them on, but the shoes in the box were some cheapo shoe. I'm sure someone did a switch-a-roo. Unfortunately, they didn't have any in the correct size, so I went without.

What I have found in my 46 years on this earth is, The Law is Open to Interpretation by the standing Legal Authority.

If I would have physically intervened and had to physically protect my self , Who knows how a Judge would rule? Not my Store, Not my Property? I have seen Good Guys Lose before. I must also add that I am Buff from all the slaps I pulled from the Ice this year, who knows what kind of damage I could have done to this guy grin

I got a wallet for xmas a couple of years ago that the security thing never got de-activated. I'd set off various alarms at Targets and Kohls and other stores both going into stores and leaving. This occured for almost 6 months till a clerk at Kohls recognized me the second time and asked if they could try and de-activate it. I searched all around that wallet to find the darn magnet/strip whatever that caused it cause it was annoying. They had me empty the wallet and de-activated it sans credit cards.

Sorry got off track my point is in all those times entering and leaving after purchasing stuff more so I was only checked once, by the person that finally also deactivated the wallet for me. This was like a weekly occurrence for almost 6 months and half time they would just see I had shopping bags and a receipt and wave me on through. Other half the time no one payed any attention to the buzzing door alarm and flashing lights.

The Sad part about these Thieves is We all end-up paying for it in the end!

Another Sad part is, If a Customer would have tried to stop this Clown they would be hauled in to Court for Violating the Thieves Civil Rights.

Im still clueles why this guy Snatched a FL18 when they had a FL20 Camera combo on the same shelf? Im Confident this guy will be the Laughing Stock of the County Jail when the Story is Told to his cell mates..

Key phrase "Im still clueles"

i have been involved in many shoplifting situations, some physical. this was my time as a meat cutter. it was the meat cutters who usualy were the ones called upon in our stores. it was a nice way to warm up. management stopped having employees getting physicaly involved about 4 years ago. worried about law suits and people getting hurt. now there is security usualy in plain cloths 24/7. theft is huge especialy now with the economy the way it is. employee theft is also a factor. this cost of security and theft is added to the prices we all pay. good luck.

Not true. I worked loss prevention for many years. As long as you know the rules and make a legitimate bust there is no problem. Just don't get it wrong!

problem is nowadays many retailers wouldn't give a dime to back you up.

4 Walmart employees fired after disarming gunman caught shoplifting

February 9th, 2011 @ 10:00pm

http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=14319284

Quote:
The four Layton Walmart employees felt it was mission accomplished. Police officers told them they had done everything right.

But a week later, all four were fired from their jobs. Walmart said their actions had violated company policy and put their fellow workers and shoppers at risk.

It was the afternoon of Jan. 13 when employees at the store saw Trent Allen Longton unwrap a Netbook computer in the electronics section and stuff it under his clothes.

Asset protection coordinator Poulsen met him at the door and ushered him back to the loss prevention room to confront him. Not long after, Ray and Richins -- both asset protection associates -- filtered in, followed by Stewart, an assistant manager, to witness.

Moments after he pulled out the small laptop, the workers say Longton also pulled out a handgun and charged toward the closed office door. Ray, Richins and Stewart were in the way. He grabbed Stewart as his way to get out.

He looked right at me and said, 'The gun is cocked. C'mon guys, just let me go. I don't want to do this,'" Shawn Ray recalled.

The four believe their quick actions to disarm and secure the man helped prevent what could have been a tragic event. They held the man until a police officer arrived, who wrote in his report that the gunman was taken to the ground in his and citizens' "best interest and safety."

"I was thinking, 'Whose house am I going to tonight to tell their family their loved one was shot?'" Poulsen said. "You have to make a decision: Do I fight for my life or do I stand here and watch?"

Workers still can't believe what happened the next week.

"She said, 'You're fired,'" Richins recalled, of the person brought in to let him go. "You're being terminated for a violation of AP09." AP09 is Walmart's policy on dealing with shoplifters. A copy obtained by KSL shows employees are allowed to use "reasonable force" to limit movements of struggling suspects. If a weapon comes out, however, associates must "disengage" and "withdraw," the policy states.

The workers say they don't know where they would have withdrawn to, with the door behind them closed in a small room and the man charging at them. They contend they had no other real option.

Actually we pay coming and going, if they are caught ot not..theft cost us all.

Case #1...they get caught, they go to court, plea it out or get it reduced due to the value...now..we loose the cost of the theft item, then all that police costs to deal with it, now on to court appointed attorneys, this quickly adds up to lots of tax dollars down the de-[PoorWordUsage]-tube.

Case #2...The thief does not get caught, and very likely repeats it tell they do, or never does get caught...who cares. Why..Loss is loss on the bottom line to business, and it will get passed up the line to the customer to recoup that loss. Insurance...nope..they will not cover it, ..who took what, and when...so it gets passed to the costumer in the end...We All LOOSE.

Not a hard concept to grasp, thieves cost us all big $$$$$$. Here.. there.. anywhere, it has a price for all to pay.

i think things were a little different a few years ago. in our case we were loyal to our store [especialy the meat department which was hit the most]. i was also located in the lake street area. hard working people that worked hard for what they earned. when i look back at all those years i am thankfull that nobody as far as workers got hurt. we had a big meatcutter one day follow this big dude out the door and when the cutter told him to stop, the guy turned arround and punched the cutter with full force in the mouth and and the cutter told the guy he better be able to better than that and grabed the guy and brought him in the security room. we laughed about it then but you never know what a person has on them. in the end the company flat out told everyone to stop apprehending shoplifters and only report questionable people to security. but back then even the store manager got involved with shoplifters. we all got along real good in those days. good luck.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
