Sons First Bow Kill..............

Recommended Posts

Friday was one of those days where things just go perfect. I got home from work and my wife reminded me that I had the boys for the afternoon the Cub scout meeting was canceled and she had class. So we went hog hunting. We got to our family farm at 4:30pm to find a good bore in one of the hay fields but he was to far for a shot and no way to get close. After glassing him for 15-20 min we hit the orange grove hoping something would be out. We were about half way to where we wanted to be and my 5 yo said daddy there’s a baby pig right there. Some how we walked right into the middle of about 25 or so. We hit the deck and crawled under a big orange tree. We had pigs so close we could here them chewing and one small bore was popping his cutters at a sow. It was cool to be so close but my 7yo son couldn’t draw his bow because we were under the orange tree. The pigs fed out to about 50 yards and I could tell my son was hart broken. After sitting under the orange tree for a few I decided it was time for dinner. As we were getting up to go I heard something behind us could it be, it was a big sow walking right to us. We hurried and got set up agin. This time he was ready the pig kept walking and at 7 yards I told him to shoot. I watched his arow sink into the pig. A good lung hit I was stoked. I looked at my son and he was shaking so bad he was tearing up. She ran about 300 yards and piled up. After a few pics we put it on the scale 148 lbs. Not bad for first bow kill......
