I agree . It is ridiculous ! At Gander they had a box full of parts and gave my son some new hubs. We put them on and started to try and collapse it. One of the poles broke through the reinforced corner ! Sitting here waiting for clam to open so I can call and see what kind of hoops I have to jump thru to return it ! I suppose they will be closed for the holiday ! Not happy !

Not trying to defend clam, but I see way more clam hubs on the ice than any other brand.

My dad's command post thermal popped a seam yesterday, nice 5" hole... smirk It was my first time setting up a newer one, all I can say is those babies are TIGHT!! It was interesting to see the changes since the first year model. They've made some nice improvements, but obviously need a few tweaks with quality control. It took 3 years for me to tear out a corner like that.

Man that sucks you guys having problems with the clam hub. I still use a old ice cube hub its about 5 or 6 years old i have beat it to death and everything still works no rips I did have a couple fiberglass rods break I just bought some fiberglass driveway marks from menards and cut them to size works great.

Finally got a hold of customer service. She said I need to take pictures of problem areas and send that with my address and copy of reciept to them and they will mail me a new house. I asked how do I get my $ back and she said they can not do that since I did not buy it directly from them ! When I get the new one I will take it back to Gander for a full refund. What a hassle.

thats pretty much what they told me. I called reeds and they said they would take it back if clam authorized it. Now lets see how long it takes for a response in the email I sent and if they authorize it. If I Dont get a response by next friday or haven't received my replacement I might just have to stop by clam headquarters

Don't expect a change in quality. It's about profit vs. quality control. They won't be quick to pay more for a better made product to put into your hands. Farming the work out to the cheapest is what they are going for.

Please prove me wrong.

Wow shoulda went with a quickfish by the sounds of it, its the 2nd cheapest I belive out there and the people dont have no where near as many bad things to say about it. Thats what happens when one company comes out with something and another tries to duplicate it and put their name on it, and there's the problem people are paying for the clam name. Hands down Ardisam(eskimo) is my favorite all around company. Im glad otter hasnt come out with one cuz Id die for a camo colored hub! grin But they havent and if they did come out with one I probably couldnt afford it. Paying for the name again... IMO tho of course.

Customer service returned my call. Good thing I did not drive down there she said they can't return it that way. Have to send emails and faxes of reciept and pics of broken parts. Marvelous! Hope I get the new one to return before Gander says it is too late.

Just be sure to notify Gander of the pending Clam Warranty issue, if you have not done so already. And inform them of what Clam has instructed you to be the warranty issue resolution.

Time will not run out, drop them a call.

Keep your documentation handy from Clam and from where you purchased the unit.

are any of the hub houses better then the other? aren't they all made in china? i have the clam base camp thermal and i'm on my second one and used it twice so far and the skirt is starting to rip and the zippers are starting to. the verelco stips inside were not all sewn in the right place for them to hold the poles. so what does a guy buy?

Not sure but after reading these reports, coupled with my experience with the Clam fan/light combo - I will never buy another Clam product again. At least not anytime soon.

My buddies Yukon has a rip in it and one of the push buttons on the pole broke off. Not a huge deal but that kind of [PoorWordUsage] shouldn't happen. Can you live with it? Sure...but again, you shouldn't have to.

I was thinking about buying a Clam command post too...looks like I'll be going with an Eskimo. That Clam "blue" sure is pretty though. whistle

This will be our future with all products- Made in China- thrown away in the USA. Everyones trying to save a buck including myself, this is what we get. Does clam step up & take care of the problem?
