T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com is reporting tonight that the Phillies have signed Cliff Lee.

Cliff Lee is going to the Philadelphia Phillies, industry sources said Monday night. The Rangers were told Monday night that Lee is going to the Phillies, It is a done deal

WoW is all I can say. The Phillies might have the best starting pitching rotation in modern baseball next season if this is true. Cliff Lee and Roy Halladay have been in the top 5 of best pitchers in baseball consistently the past few years. To go along with those two "true aces", they also have Cole Hamels (former ace) and Roy Oswalt (another former ace). These guys are going to be lights out in the SP next year! I'm glad the Twins are in the AL!

Yea the contract was for a lot less too. Kind of nice to see someone not just chase the money and even reject the yanks. Wow. I thought he was headed back to Texas. He must have really enjoyed his short stay in Philly in 09...should be a fun rotation to watch next year!

Halladay, Oswalt, and now Lee... wow.

Lee earned some respect from me. Funny to watch the Yankees throwing around a bunch of money trying to sign him, then he tells them to [PoorWordUsage] off and goes to the Phillies for less money. Awesome.

Let's not make him into a hero because he signed for less money. I'm sure he likes the idea of facing a pitcher 4 times a game instead of a D.H. He also probably realizes he has a better chance to go to the playoffs with the Phillies in a overall weaker league than the American League. He also sees the Yankees for what they are, an aging team with very little pitching. At his level, it's not about money it's about the rings.

Don't forget the fact that with the Yankees he would have to face other elite pitchers in the best division in the league many, many times. The Red Sox are going to be great, the Rays are always competitive, and the Blue Jays are underrated.
