Fav fish to fight

Kasai-
Check out the hot bites forum, under the toughest fish to fight. For me though it has to be a nice river walleye, a big smallie exploding on a topwater, a red lake crappie or northern, or snagging a carp in 40 feet of water with a 6lbs test lindy rig.

Walleyes are weak wink.gif I know I am going to get flamed for this, but most of the Walleyes I've caught fought like a wet noodle. Atleast compared to some fish like Pike and Carp.

Most likely a Northern Pike (Muskies would be around the same but bigger I'd imagine, but I have never caught one) followed closely by Carp (yes CARP) and Largemouth Bass. Haven't really caught very many sizeable smallies to judge them however.

Man it is hard to beat a mid-40 or better Muskie breaking water. But I will still have to go with the bronze medal of the North-----The Smallmouth

A river smallie gets my vote.
But the Flathead catfish and musky are up there to.

I haven't fished the great lakes for trout or salmon so I don't know. I heard about them steel heads though.

Every summer we'll fish bluegills off the dock at my parents lake cabin with our ultralight rods. Did I mention there are lots of carp in the lake too. You tie into one of those carp with ultralight gear and you don't care what is on the other end of the line, it is so much fun.

Big eelpout through the ice on Lake of the Woods would be right up there too. wink.gif

For me my favorite is the big pig of a Walleye the ones that just sit on the bottm and you can do nothing with them. Every time you think you have them comming up they run back to the bottom and sit.

I have caught King Salmon in Alaska and large Muskies on Leech but always with heavy equipment so the fight is not quite the same. My goal is to catch a large Musky on a fly rod, I am betting that would take the cake for best fight.

It really does not matter they are all great once you hook in to a good one!

Great topic though.

Either a small mouth (even the ones that only weigh a pound or 2 were giving every thing they had in the boundary waters) or a good sized blue fish while surfcasting (grew up in new york, and that and stripers are whateveryone fished for)

Biggest fights go to carp, pike, and lagemouths(havent caught any big smallies) but the most exciting of the three has to be bass.
Biggest fight for its size is def. the bluegill, and on light tackle of ice fishing they are the best!

Smallies pound for pound are the best and most exciting fish to catch.

As far as overall, musky and sturgeon are the masters of the battle. Muskies are fast and dangerous, where sturgeon have pure power.

Any way, whatever is currently on the end of the line is the best.
