Pheasants are not native to Minnesota, let alone this country. They were put here.

I'm guessing the "pheasant" connection was pointed out because your username is "BrdHunter01".

Thanks for clearing that up! A pheasant is like a muskie. Now I get it! I'll be sure to pass that on to my kids

K then don't tell me what we should put in these lakes! If you know anything at all you would know how the DNR managed another species they stocked in the chain...

Catfish? One of the best channel cat fisheries around.

Do most of you non muskie fisherman realise that by adding muskies to a sytem it will make it a better fisherie??? I'm glad I live and fish on muskie waters, the best fishing in the state for all species of fish. Quality walley, perch, monster gills, crappies, pike smallouth and largemouth. So in the 40 years muskies have been in my waters the fishing remains fantstic.

and who are you to say to not put them in? I trust the DNRwith ALL of our species.. weather it is pheasants, deer, walleyes, catfish turkey ect... They are doing an awesome job and we are lucky to be sportsman in MN.

And Merk, dude.... spend your time reading and searching for REAL facts like the guys you always argue against do.. Why do you even waste your time with generic and vague statements? They don't get anywhere on here. Let's be positive!

Don't really want to get into the argument here but the lakes are public water belonging to everyone. Doesn't matter whether you live on or near the lake or the other side of the state, we all own the waters. Another slant the Channel 5 promo was trying to play; talking like the lake belongs to the homeowners on the lake.

Muskie angling by men/women/children is reasonably seen as the fastest growing aspect of fishing in MN for any species. Its recent growth has been explosive. The MNDNR doesn't take the addition of a fish like this into any body of water lightly, any fish into any body of water for that matter but as a "fishing" state it only makes sense to at least consider expanding opportunities for this segment of anglers.

Not all lakeshore owners are on board, not all area residents will be on board nor should they all be expected to be on board for a change like this. Whats funny is the piling on of people like Merk who show their true colors as anti-muskie folks. No one is threatening northern pike spearing in any of these waters are they?

Its well known amongst the angling community that fishing on most/all muskie waters is fantastic for pretty much everything that swims in the lake including stocked muskie waters. Bemidji - wow tremendous walleye angling. Vermilion - super fishery for big pike, smallies and walleyes. Oh don't forget its also full of nice pannies too! Anyone ever fish walleyes on Plantagenet? If not you should cause its awesome. Fishing in muskie waters in the DL area is pretty darn good. Alex? Miltona? Maybe not every situation in every state has worked out super awesome, but almost all of them have and the MNDNR has proven over and over again to make intelligent decisions on stocking muskies.

In many waters muskies simply replace a top predator that was there naturally but has been unnaturally removed - big pike! These predators keep lakes in proper balance. Given restrictions on harvest and the overall catch and release ethic of most muskie anglers, muskies can bring the ecology of a lake back in line and provide better opportunities for everyone who enjoys the water for any species they choose to pursue.
