Reflectix install?

Do the people that have reflectix installed have the edges taped to the fish house material with something? If not, wouldn't you get frost build up between the fabric and the reflectix? If you do, what did you use? Saw it on sale and thought I would put some in the ceiling of my Kenia and Voyager.

You may get some frost between the refectex and canvas but who cares. Its easy to do just cut to fit, put slits in it for the velcro around the poles and tape it at the joints where needed. No need to tape to canvas or anything. If it hangs over onto the sides a bit thats ok too.

Last year was my first year ice fishing and I did it in my Eskimo. Not sure of the savings but it is great for lighting and reducing condensation dripping. The best part is that it rolls right up when you take down your house. At the end of each fishing trip I would set up the Eskimo in the garage to let it dry out.

I just got a Scout and Yukon and will be installing it next weekend with the leftover Reflectix from last year.

I have it in my Guide and I like it, for all the reasons mentioned above. I just used a little tape on the ends to hold it in place and to reinforce the slits the straps are fed through. Gotta love that you aren't adding any real weight to it either, since I pull mine by hand.

One string of LED's in my house now and it looks like the metrodome in there.

Awwww, man! I was all sold on this stuff. I was drinking the koolaid. The cash was burning a hole in my pocket, and then you told me that my fish hut would look like the Metrodome! Nooooooo thanks grin

You can buy it at Menards. Like everything mentioned above, it is a lot warmer. I have the older Little Buddy heater and last year was the first time I had to turn it to the lower setting. It is worth the little investment it takes to insulate the shack.

That's exactly what I did to my Otter.

I picked it up at Menards, and they have multiple widths to choose from. I bought a 2' by 25' (I think). It was by the roofing/insulation materials. It was a pretty cheap and simple install that I would do again in a heartbeat. I measured the length I needed from the front cross beam across the top and down to the top of the sled and cut 2) strips that length. I layed them out on the floor and taped them together, and measured where the holes for the velcro straps would go. I cut them and the window area, and reinforced them with more tape. I then undid the velcro to the poles and slid the whole thing in and threaded the velcro through to reattach the poles. It folds up nicely, and really makes a difference in heat retention and reduces moisture buildup.

I put it in my Voyager and it helps with heat retention and the lighting. It does add some bulk to the fabric when folded down. I have mine modded and carry the auger behind the seats so the extra bulk makes things a tighter fit.I am hoping to find a thermal cap for a Voyager that may be less bulky.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
