Powerstroke
Air gun, if legal.
Steve Foss
If you aren't willing to declare unrelenting war on the squirrels, you'll never get rid of them for good. They're burying something (acorns or such) because your yard is great habitat, so if you kill off the current crop more will just come back in from neighboring areas. We've made peace with our squirrels regarding bird feeders and lawn (mostly that means we've thrown our hands in the air and given up), but our landscape plan leaves us less and less lawn with each passing year anyway. And, well, we think squirrels are OK.
8-Ball
Have a dog-but he doesnt stay out all day. Air gun? Have one, but not an option in town. Steve- I understand your side I just wish they would stop tearing holes all over!
Eric Wettschreck
The only real critter control I've ever known to get the job done all the time every time is a good dog. It's actually quite humerous at my place watching the squirrels and the dog play the game we've named "Squirrel." The dog will chase em to a tree and they'll run around the trunk, about 10 feet up the tree while the dog runs circles around the tree.Every now and then they get a little too low and the dog gets a meal. goblueM
you'd be surprised how little noise an airgun makes when fired from a kitchen window
Ufatz
Hey 8-ball.....the holes you describe could also be SKUNK work! They;ll do that looking for grubs and worms. It may well be that you have squirrels too, but a couple skunks can do a lotta drillin' in a couple nights.Like Steve, we have pretty much reached detente with the little devils. When they started doing damage though we relocate them immediately.I must say I admire their intelligence and manual dexterity!!
RumRiverRat
A .22 is surprisingly quiet outside when fire from inside a house. Inside the house it is a bit noisy.
Steve Foss
A .22 is surprisingly quiet outside when fire from inside a house. Not when your neighbors' houses are 20 feet away. Don't ask me how I know that.
goblueM
one time, i thought of the foolproof method of shooting a rabbit eating my green beans. shot from inside the kitchen just fine, right at dusk walked out to pick it up and the darn thing let out a blood-curdling scream. needless to say i booked it back inside, and that was the last time i shot a rabbit inside city limits now squirrels, they're a different matter, haha
8-Ball
U- Aint skunkers Ive watched those blasted squirrels do their "handiwork" on my yard day after day this summer. There could be a "rogue" skunk (at night) but squirrels are definitely the headache here...

RiverFish
I've trapped and relocated probably 75 squirrels in the last 3 years. My neighbor heavily feeds birds and squirrels.I did notice a drop last fall in squirrels, but by mid summer this year they are tons of them around again. You can shoot or trap all you want, they will just keep moving in.Good luck. bogman
There is a new nitogen gas pellet gun that is extremely quiet. About all you can hear is the impact of the pellet. Very stealthy.http://www.walmart.com/ip/Benjamin-Trail...3#ProductDetail
