Packers 2010

...and when was the last time that a QB's finger was broken on a QB sneak? That's pretty rare. QBs are usually injured on a sack. Favre used to break his fingers at the end of the throwing motion when he'd hit a lineman's helmet. Mike Vick is the last QB that I can think of who got hurt on a running play, but he plays a different style of running QB than most.

You don't stop being a football player and calling plays just because you're scared of a rare injury.

I just don't think that it happens often. The potential is certainly there though, so I agree with you from that standpoint.

The bigger issue is that our line can't open holes for anyone. The only time they open holes is when in pass protection, they provide good lanes for Rodgers to scramble. I just compiled these stats from the EPSN HSOforum. Rodgers is powering the team both on the ground and through the air. He deserves a medal and the RBs/OL deserve a hot poker:

Aaron Rodgers

113 yards rushing last 3 games - 5.7 yard average - 1 TD

245 yards rushing this season - 5.0 yard average - 4 TDs

Brandon Jackson

96 yards rushing last 3 games - 2.6 yard average - 1 TD

514 yards rushing this season - 3.9 yard average - 3 TDs

All Packer RBs (Jackson, Kuhn, Nance, Grant)

188 yards rushing last 3 games - 2.8 yard average - 1 TD

832 yards rushing this season (combined) - 3.8 yard average - 4 TDs

You aint kidding... I was quick to pick up Jackson in my FF league when Grant went down. Wish I wouldn't have spent that dollar for an every week guy that sits on my bench.

As a Vikes fan, I am a realist though. The pack are good. BUT... no running game means no championships. Sorry cheese

I am no Jackson fan but can someone please tell me when any back has been hit in the backfield as may times as he has? Just a few times a game I would like a hole to develop for him or any GB back.

That being said, he is not quick enough and he should only be a 3rd down back, if that.

Well I only got to watch the first half of Sunday's game (dang sister-in-law had to schedule a first birthday party for 2pm on a Sunday). Did the O-line start opening holes for Starks or did he make his 75 yards? Either way, it sounds like he may be the boost that the running game needed. I know that it's just his first game, but it was impressive sounding especially since the 49ers knew we were trying to run out the clock and they have a good run defense.

The offensive passing game continues to impress. The defense continues to have occasional hiccups, but I suspect that a TE like Davis will always school Hawk when we don't have a Brandon Chillar in coverage. I did see Peprah out of position more than usual.

Losing Jenkins for another week or two could really hurt, especially if he's not ready for the Patriots or Giants games. This team doesn't have many season-ending-injuries left to give before the water rushes over the dam.

Not sure about Starks, I think he may be quicker to the LOS than Jackson. However, the opponent was the 49'ers. Lets see this week against a good D line and for that matter in the next few weeks agaisnt good D's.

I don't know what they were before the game, but the 49ers are currently ranked as the 10th best rushing defense.

On another topic, I see that the Dolphins placed Al Harris on IR after he hurt his hamstring. It looks like he appeared in a few games, then wasn't even active, and now IR. It looks like Ted Thompson's keen eye was right again.

WOW... Didn't know that... At first I was kind of unhappy TT let him go, but now knowing this, he - once again - looks like a genius. Maybe he's not as bad as originally thought?

Hey Antero... Send me a PM or email sometime. RKries22 at gmail dot com

I just got out of the army, stationed at Ft. Carson. Fished 11 Mile a few times. Where are you at? Glad to see some Packer fans are still in CO!

When I lived in Victor, CO, it was great for hunting and fishing (hit 11 Mile and Skagway more than once) but he!! for Packers fans. Nothing but the stupid Broncos on TV! shockedshocked

Antero, I hadn't seen your Colorado location before. Where you at out there? Have you been there long (and I had my head up my arse) or did you move there not long ago? smile

I live in Woodland Park, you two will know it well I am sure. The lakes are icing over and fishing is in full swing. The kokes are an easy catch right now at Antero and the trout will be available in my spots in a week or so as the ice thickens. 11Mile, the bays are ok but it is a big and deep lake so it takes a bit longer to get good ice.

Their are a lot of Green and Gold fans here as there are everywhere. If the game is not on tv I go to Tonys bar in the Springs (all Pack all the time) or Phantom Canyon Brewery where they have the NFL ticket and I have a chance to tease the Bears and Vikes fans in attendance. By the way, we all laugh at #4!

I retired here about 2 yrs ago, family reasons mostly but you can not beat the weather (sunny just about every day) and the area is the best. I do miss the much better fishing opportunities in the midwests tho. Walleye, pike and bass fishing leaves a lot to be desired.

Go Pack!

I attempted to go to Tony's on several occasions, but would have been by myself and felt weird. Just bit my lip and went to BWW to keep my friends who are fans of other teams happy. I took my family to Tony's one time when they were in town visiting. We had a good lunch there. Neat little bar. Loved all the Wisconsin and Minnesota stuff in there.

My unit should be getting back from Iraq around Feb/March, so I may come out that way to see them come home.

The 49'ers are a good run D team. Patrick Willis (MLB) is one of the best in the game. Reminds you of his coach (Singletary).

Harris had been working out at the facility and then practiced with them for quite a while, so they new he wasn't what he used to be or they would have kept him. He got old and hurt, two things that aren't kind to CB's.

Once again TT makes the right call. People need to start giving him some credit, he's drafted a lot of good players and for the most part made the right personnel moves. You can't keep everyone, you have to cut guys from time to time and move on.

I've done nothing but given TT enormous credit from the start...heated arguments with my brothers back in 2007, 2008, etc. The guy makes hard decisions and ignores the media/fan criticisms. If the media/fans ran this team we'd be 2-10 just like the Lions.

To this point in his career, Ted Thompson has drafted better than Ron Wolf. His only weak point has been not finding as many talented off-the-street guys that can plug holes. Wolf was a master at the as well. If Thompson can get better at that (he's decent) then he'll easily surpass Ron Wolf as the best Packer GM since Lombardi. Strong words but I know it to be true.

Just plain ugly on offense. The D played fine, but they just didn't have it together on O.

A-rod needs to learn to slide, hopefully this will knock some sense into him. The O-Line played like %#@&! Jennings drops two critical catches he makes 9/10 times. Flynn played fine dinking and dunking, but no way McCarthy should have called the deep throw to Jennings on 4th and 1.

Gotta give credit to the Lions D Line, they played really well. Their secondary is marginal, but the QB's didn't have enough time to attack it.

How many concussions has Rodgers had now...at least two or three. Most guys don't make it much past 5 and they call it a career...

Was a terrific game to watch today...nothing better than a Packer loss to keep you warm and fuzzy.

Not exactly how I imagined the big tough A-rog getting put out from injury (see about 2 pages back) but only goes to show I was a prognosticating mind. He has too much running back in him, and its a shame because he needs to suck it up and dump it off sometimes. Only a couple more bell ringers and ole' number 12 will be a memory in the minds of the cheese cry

Like I said, lets see what he does against a good D.
