Matt Guerriers GARBAGE. I am way too lazy to link up all my quotes about him, but I have always said it and I always will. It's one thing when a reliever gives up a single here, double there, another single- but this guy serves 'em up over the fence. Whatta piece of work.

I don't think he is garbage, but I do think he needs about a week or two off. He has just been overused over the past 3 years and doesn't have much as far as movement or location right now. A short start always leads to a few problems.....

Think back- Guerrier gets put in vs the Yankees. Bases loaded. AROD steps up, they even mention how he had NEVER retired AROD and AROD had hit like 4 HRs against him. Do I even have to remind anyone how that ended up? He don't need rest- he needs to learn a meat pitch down the heart of the plate usually ends up 420 feet into the stands. Can he pitch down and away? I learned that playing wiffle ball when I was 6. My god.

Guerrier has the best control of any of our relief pitchers, when he isn't overworked......that isn't now. Blame this loss on the pitching BEFORE that(and the BLIND UMP). Frank had NOTHING(4.1 innings), Slama gets hammered everytime, and Majarus is xzqxz mad. That's WHY Guerrier was even brought in....to get us out of the inning...he did, but I wondered who was going to pitch then. I thought maybe Crain , but I think he had been used several days in a row....too early for Capps. Starting pitching sets up the PEN...or destroys it, like tonight.

part of the problem with the bullpen is that they have too many pitchers that only get used on a couple batters every time they pitch. that works when the starter goes 7 innings on a regular basis but when the starter has a bad game, they need someone who can go out and throw three or more innings but since duensing became a starter they don't have that guy any more to use.

Honestly, it has nothing to do with rest gang. He literally pitches the ball down the middle of the plate, thigh high. He isn't like Jonathan Broxton throwing 100 MPH!! Single A players could take Guerrier yard

He has also chocked many a time and cost the Twins games. He is nothing special.

I am sure it's tough to call which pitcher should come out against who. Gardy can take plenty of the blame for how and when our pitchers are used.

The stats will show who is good against who and when one should pull a pitcher.

Every single pitcher in the land has choked plenty. smile

The great ones are those that choke the least. Same with hitters.

Just for the record.... Guerrier had a low to mid 2's era last year and led all of MLB in HOLDS at 33.... which is basically what he is asked to do.... he just needs some rest and that might not even help as he has been used plenty of the past 3 years...

Yes, last season he was good. But, that was last season.

I know what you are saying Harvey.... I was just getting at the fact that just because a guy has his struggles for a half a year or a year, doesn't mean you cast him off. Guys have rough spots all the time, especially in the bullpen because of the situation they are thrown into. No doubt he has struggled and right now in a big spot I would rather see Crain in there, but that doesn't mean Guerrier can't help the Twins later this year or next.... If it were me, I would put him on the DL for 15 days with some arm fatigue/tired arm or whatever they need make up to get him there just so he could get some rest....

The argument continues. I see a trend starting I like....Crain and Rauch paired up and Guerrier and Capps paired up every other day, with the lefties spotting LH hitters here and there as needed. I can see that working, by keeping everybody rested better. The starters still have to go into the 7th though.

Matt G has been money for us many a time. smile

Hey a voice of reason has arisen in the BB forum! smile

Matt has been a bit off, but has been solid in 2 of his last 3 starts. Having Rausch back and Crain pitching better will help a bit.

ALL pitchers starters and relievers go through things like this if you follow the game.

It's not an easy game and its a marathon not a sprint by the way!

y-e-a-h......just like he got hit last night?????He was painting the black on the outside corner with fastballs and change-ups...then when you get over confident, he drops the curveball on you. Ameteurs and single A players would start looking for a job at Walmart.
