Alright! That is exactly what I wanted to hear. There are ways to beat the heat and still enjoy the great outdoors.

- Go further north.

- Pick sites in the shade (a little obvious). Some campgrounds offer more choices then others in this department.

- Camp on a lake. Besides enjoying more breezes you can always go for a swim to cool off.

- During the heat of the day, enjoy the visitors centers. Most have a/c and often have short movies about the areas features.

- Do your hiking & exploring early, or late late in the day

- Get a camper with a/c smile (it's on my wish list)

- Adjust your attitude, I did smile

I didn't use the AC in my camper until this year on the 4th. It was hot as blazes so I thought I'd give it a try. Man was that sweet!! I plan on installing a digital thermastat too.

Those are some great tips WIWF. We try to avoid hikes during the heat of the day unless we know they are shaded or near water.

Always drink water. Fastest way to ruin a trip is heat exhaustion or dehydration.

Oops, forgot the water on the list. Extremely important. If you wait until you feel thirsty, you have waited to long. Kids don't drink enough water either.

According to an article in the recent Reader's Digest, if somebody's mood takes a dive, it is one of the first signs of dehydration.

My wife and some friends had a good weekend end at wild river state park. We took the canoes with and went down the river to keep cool! There were a lot of nice swimming spots along the way. The park is nice also and the sites have pretty good growth between them so your not looking at your neighbor all the time.

We camp anytime from May through Oct. Just take it easy during the day when it is hot. We do have a 5th wheel but most place we go don't have electric. We do have a generator, but I just won't fire it up just of air.
