House boat /cabin

What are the rules for a house boat? Could a person stay all summer out on a house boat? Could I set-up 10' off shore in front of cabins in a bay all summer? Thinking why buy a cabin when I could just live out on a lake! I could beach it at the public landing for a restroom, hang out on islands during storms, or just chill out in small bays. Okay-so I'm totally joking but what fun would that be, and way cheaper then owning a cabin...I'm sure you would upset some cabin owners if they had to view your boat every morning when they got up!

There is a campground in my town that will rent a lot for a month at a time, and it is very reasonable on prices. We get several people that will just plop there campers there for the summer, and stay in the campground for $50 per month and includes water, sewer, and electricity. Cant beat that.

I read an article a while back of a community of people living in houseboats year round on the Mississippi River somewhere near Winona, MN. No utilities but no rent or taxes either. Haven't heard anything more about them since, so I don't know how long they were there or if they are still there today.

NO PROPERTY TAXES!!

I know of the cluster in Winona, and as of a few months ago, they are still there. Little ramps from shore to them, and they are out in the slackwaters of the Missippi next to some barge loading facilities.

And if you have a loan you can deduct the interest paid on your tax return, all you need is to have a bathroom
