Eagle pics from Lake of the Woods

Hiya,

Was on Lake of the Woods this weekend and had a close encounter with a big baldy...

I had hooked a small pike on a muskie lure and was just getting ready to swing the fish in when I heard *woosh-woosh-woosh* right over my head. Looked up and there was an eagle hovering about 10 feet up looking at the pike.

He flew off and landed in a dead pine maybe 20 feet away, and while I unhooked the pike my fishing partner got out the camera. Tossed the pike back in, and he took a run at it:

He missed, then flew up to a rock right in front of the boat and posed while we shot some more pictures:

About as close as I've come to one, and I've never had one take a run at a hooked fish before... He was 15 yards away, tops.

Those are awesome photos. I've never had an Eagle attack a hooked fish, but I seen many flying past with a fish clutched in their talons.
