Cheap way to wind up anchor rope...

tacklejunkie

Question

when not in use. I tried rolling it up but it becomes a tangled mess when I try to put out my anchors. What I'm looking for is there something that you can roll anchor rope onto that rolls it up nicely and neatly without the tangled mess you have when you go to use it again and that doesn't take up alot of room? I tried rolling it on a dowel but it didn't work

I have about 50 feet of anchor rope to roll up and they only get connected to the anchors when in use and I don't need those powered anchor winder thingys that you see on some boats

A friend of mine has been just using an old lawn chair bag, and just feeding the rope in to the bag, then when you need rope, you just pull it out of the bag, I have just started to do this, and it seems to work great, with no tangles so far. You just need to take a little time and feed the rope in to the bag when done using it.

There is also a flat plastic wrap for extension cord storage that would probably work well. Wally world, large home improvement places or hardware store should have them by the extension cords.

That's what I have used for years. Orange flat plastic ext. holders. Will hod 50' of anc. rope easy. I can't remember the price but I think you can get them for 2-3 bucks. I have 3, one for the bow anc. and one for the stern and another for extending either anc. line if needed. One of the better and cheaper investments ever.

you can get rope bag or throw bag that as a hole in the bottom with a grommet the feed the line in and out. Use to use them in the fire dept with 1/4 inch safety line. Could carry in a pocket so a bit bigger one would not be too bad.
