Anyone still trying to call yotes?

Recommended Posts

I don't normally do in the summer, but right now you need to know where they are at as they aren't moving to far from the pups. I got one group out my window and they have howled the last 3 nights about the same time nearly the same place.

Mom and dad are always looking for food, so start with that and then some pup distress. Sure howling would stir some good reactions to, but location is key now until the pups start moving all over.

While turkey hunting the last month or so we saw around 8 yotes all early in mornings. We lip squeaked one to about 50yds till it got to a creek and followed it away.As stated above pup in distress is a good sound to use this time of year. With the alfa fields starting to come down thats a good place to call to,they like to mouse their and look for easy meals like frogs, snakes or anything else that goes through the machinery. With turkey hunting done now were thinking of making a few sets.Good luck if ya give it a try

I have called in a few pups in mid august. Mostly with coyote vocals, but at that time they are in there family groups.

It wasn't on purpose as i rarely will call for them until October- I was showing a buddy how i use my howler so we just pulled over along side the gravel road and let a couple rip right at sunset. A group let loose about 1/4 mile out so I howled back and two min later had one standing looking at the truck. So i just happen to have my 204 with so I took advantage of it. Now that buddy is hooked on calling.
