Fox kit and mom.

Beautiful! I love the first one - Looks like Momma is saying "Just let me lay down for a minute". and the last with the vole is an amazing catch too.

what did you use for that.

In addition to the 7D, I'm pretty sure there was some patient waiting involved as well!

These are wonderful images Jason. Did you use a blind or car or are the foxes comfortable with your presence? I've recently found a den but can't seem to gain much trust smile I LOVE that last image, not only for the behavior that it is showing, technically it's gorgeous too, but the detail I enjoy the most is the taconite pellets in the bg, gives a great sense of place to the series!

Shawn, the first two shots were taken from my car in Lake County. The parent it okay with my presence out of the car but the babies are not. They retreat to their den as soon as they see a human or car. I got lucky and surprised them. The den in on private property so no chance of setting up a blind there. The last fox picture is actually from the bog. Totally different fox all together, but the picture was taken on the same day. The infamous railroad tracks are in the background. I have found a fox den in the bog too. I sat in my car yesterday trying to get a peek at them at sunrise but no luck. The entrance is littered with animal remains, a deer leg, crow wing etc. I know its active because I could hear the kits in it when I accidentally stumbled upon it walking through the grass.

Okay, great feedback. It is interesting to monitor a fox den even if one does not get cooperative photographable subjects. New items do seem to turn up and then disappear on a day to day basis, bits of paper, a little brick, sticks, fur, objects of play and learning no doubt. And yes, I'm not sure why I did not realize that the images were from different locations, hello....Duh! Still love the taconite pellets!
