I'm left handed for writting and throwing

cut and hammer right handed

shoot right

I cast with my right hand and reel with my right for casting reels, and cast right and reel with my left on spinning models

I'm right handed.

I only use left-crank spinning reels, I just get all hand-stupid when I try to hold the rod and spinning reel while grabbing line with my left hand.

With baitcasters however, I'm very ambidextrous. I own both right and left retrieve baitcasters.

Funny topic-don't laugh to bad at me.

Rod in left hand and reel with right always. Cast either.

Write left. Bat left. Throw Left.

Shoot right. Kick right. Bowl right. Hockey stick right.

Golf-learned right, switched to left(got new lefty clubs).

I use spinning reels with a left handed crank, rod in right hand, baitcasters reel with the right rod in the left hand, cast both right and left handed. Play hockey left handed, golf, bow, hammer right handed, shoot right handed. I was told I do not have an eye that is more dominant when checked during a bow course. I guess I'm just all mixed up wink

Someone similar to my breakdown.

Rod in left, real right. Cast always left.

Write right, Bat left, throw a baseball right (can also throw left with extra warm-up) , but throw a football left. Shoot both. kick left. Bowl right. Hockey left. Golf left.

Cool and interesting topic. Get to see how "handed" preferences end up for different people.

Baitcasters I overhand/side arm cast with my right hand and usually switch the rod to my left hand mid cast. When pitching with a baitcaster I keep the rod in my left hand always. Reel right handed.

Spinning is weird I used to hold it left and reel righty in open water but hold it right and reel lefty ice fishing. A few years ago I switched all my spinning gear so the I hold right and reel lefty.

I didnt realise so many reeled baitcasters lefty. Most people I know reel baitcasters righty and spinning lefty, I figured that was the norm.

I'm right handed, but left eye dominant.

Bat right, kick right, bowl right, hockey stick right, golf right.

Play pool right (eye doc says I'd be better left handed, I suck either way)

Shoot left handed. Right feels more natural, but left handed is where I can shoot dead on so learning to shoot left handed.

Cast either hand but mostly right, reel left handed spinning reels. Learning bait casting, it's awkward may have to get a left handed reel and try that.

The girlfriend is left handed reels left handed and I can use her poles no problem also when necessary, doesn't bother me to reel right handed spinning rods. Ice fishing I learned from borrowing one of hers that it's really slick to have one left reel and one right reel if fishing two jigging poles, just seems easier to keep them on left and right and pick them up and reel.

If you've never tried it I would strongly suggest that you do. I always used spinning reels right and reeled left and did the opposite with baitcasters when I started with them. When I bought my second baitcaster I decided I would try reeling left because while I had gotten used to reeling on the right switching hands seemed like an unnecessary pain. Since I switched I haven't used my right handed reel, just because the lefty works so much better for me.

I am left hand retarded! I can't do anything with my left. I cast with my right, then switch the rod to my left so I can reel with my right. Both with baitcasting and spinning setups. it's a lot of extra work and unnecessary screwing around, but i CAN'T reel with my left

Which hand do you use to reel with? I feel that I am an oddball because I am right handed and reel with my right hand and hold the rod with my left.

If you buy a new reel thats together, the reel is always set for the left hand.

Just interested to see if more people reel one way or the other. Do you use your dominant hand to reel or hold the rod?

I have always reeled like this which is similiar to how most right-handers play guitar strumming with the right and "holding" the neck with the left. My guess is, it is all about what feels natural...

I use my spinnig gear with the rod in my right hand and the reel in my left hand, for baitcasters it is the opposite
