Justin Morneau out

Justin Morneau (back) is not in Wednesday's starting lineup against the Tigers.

As expected. Michael Cuddyer will start at first base with Jason Kubel in right. Luke Hughes will make his first major league start at third base.

They've been saying they were going to give him a maintenance day sometime soon here. Maybe this is it after he left with a sore back last night.

I am thinking maybe they should have given him the game off last night smirk

Although they are saying this is no big deal...it's a little un-nerving seeing him have back trouble in multiple years. He's a little young for this to start happening now. See Crede.

think it's safe to say that Morneau has reached the status of being one of the most feared hitters in the game. maybe not Pujols level yet but to see him get intentionally walked with the bases empty on a day where he is too sick to play a full game shows that the Athletics at least fear him in a big way. you don't see bases empty intentional walks too often in the majors.

I wish morneaus rating on The Show 2010 would go up

I wish his All Star voting would go up to put him in the #1 first baseman slot where he belongs. Teixeira went 0 for 6 last night with 5 strikeouts, yet he's leading Morneau. What a joke
