Hooded Mergansers

Took me nearly an hour to get from my car to this open water, fighting my way through the narrow strip of land with downed trees and small brush. I had to dump the blind half way there and fight the rest of the way with the camera bag. I had some skittish birds within 10 feet of me, but the sun was on the wrong side when they were passing by. I should have pulled out the flash but I didn’t want to spook them.

BEAUTIFUL! The last image is the best, what a wonderful portrait, love the dark hue of blue in the water. Whatever the effort, it was worth it!
