Chester Taylor to Bears

I think this was a bigger loss than most people realize. frown

Please! Third down backs are a dime a dozen. He was a good player and a good guy but he is easily replaceable.

They were better for one half of two games.

Peppers made the bears better. Taylor gives them another option at runningback. I doubt these moves will cause the Vikings to lose to the bears. They have a loooong way to go before they will be contenders again.

chester taylor was a great player - yes 3rd down backs are everywhere, but generally you don't find one that has good ball security, pass blocking, AND is skilled enough to be a full time starter

So true...what some may forget was his ability to pick up the blitz and read defenses to anticipate where the pressure is coming from. This was not a good day as far as our q-back protection is concerned. IMO, the way our offensive line played last year, Favre doesn't make it through the season without Chester. With Martz going to the Bears and the way he likes to wing the ball around...Chester became just as an important pick-up as Peppers.

He will not be easy to replace.

Chester is the perfect back for the martz offense. Between him and Forte, they will have one hell of a back field. He wont just be a thrid down back in Chi town. The bears are now by commitee

Forte stunk it up last season, he had to be the biggest fantasy bust out there!

We really don't need a 3rd down back, Have AP in there all 3 downs, he'll have to step it up and learn how to block and hold onto the ball. His blocking has improved and he had alot of receptions last year compared to other years.

I've liked everything I've seen from Albert Young so far, plus we"ll use Harvin out of the backfield more so AP don't get gassed.

Larry Johnson would be a beast on our team though, I wonder how well him and Jared get along from the Chief days?

Chester will be better for the Bears than he was for the Vikes. The Chester Taylor signing frees up a good chunk of Free Agent money for the Vikes (That they couldn't use otherwise-by league rules) to shore up their CB or OL needs.

Chester will be missed for sure.

With no picks in the first or second rounds of this year's draft, a head coach and a general manager who are on the hot seat and a fan base whose emotional needle is threatening to swing past anger and into disgust, you do as the Bears did -- and respond with the biggest free-agent splash in franchise history.

While other teams were showing restraint in the league's first uncapped offseason since 1993, the Bears stepped on the gas pedal and signed three of the top available players at their positions: Defensive end Julius Peppers, running back Chester Taylor and run-blocking tight end Brandon Manumaleuna.

That's not just a lot of potential bang, but also mega-guaranteed bucks (reportedly $40 million in the first three seasons).

Can't wait for the season to begin!

The Bears have improved considerably with this Peppers and Taylor. They no longer will be a cake walk. It may just be a 3 way race to the divisional title this year.

I have to agree with them improving with Taylor and Peppers, but ya know what they still are lacking offensive weapons. Who is their #1 receiver? Hester?? After that its a [PoorWordUsage] shoot, and Hester isn't that great of a receiver. If they had 2 established receivers then I would worry about them contending for the North title, as of right now its between the Pack and the Vikes (Barring Favre comes back).
