Rip_Some_Lip
I read on pro football talk that the Vikes were interested in LT. He would be a great third down back.
Randyjr.
Pat Kirwan of NFL.com did a live chat yesterday and this question was brought up. For what it's worth he thought that the Vikes should absolutely take a shot at getting LT. Not only is he a third down threat, but he will spell AP, and is insurance against an (god forbid) AP injury. Also LT Prides himself on being able to catch anything and block on either side of the line. The QB will need to be protected. New Orleans is proof of this. I think we should go after him and pay the guy.
koonie
Clayton brought it up this morning and now schefter tweeted that the Vikes and Tomlinson are talking.
Scott K
Quote: ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms that LaDainian Tomlinson is talking to the Vikings, but the free agent is also talking with other clubs.Per Schefter, no deal is imminent. The Vikes fit Tomlinson's contender requirement, but he'd have to be willing to accept a clear second-fiddle role in Minnesota. We suspect he'll exhaust all avenues before accepting a job as a role player for 2010.
james_walleye
Just heard LT is coming to visit MN tomorrow.

Randyjr.
According to SI Tomlinson will visit Thursday. But will he want to accept a role in the offense instead of being "the guy"?http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com//2010/writers/jim_trotter/03/09/tomlinson/index.html
james_walleye
Well most likely if he wants to go to a team that is a "contender" hes going to have to take that roll. As i have heard he wants a ring first and foremost.
FISHINGURU
He'll have to decide which is more important because there aren't many contenders looking for an older RB to be "the guy". If he wants to try to be "the guy" on a team its gonna be on a bad team. If I was him I'd go to a contender because he was already the best RB in the league for years but has no rings. rayguy
Was said on ESPN LT wants to be a starter wherever he goes. Sorta leaves us out dosn't it?
zepman
No...he's just trying to negotiate the best contract possible.
koonie
Was said on ESPN LT wants to be a starter wherever he goes. Sorta leaves us out dosn't it? He said he wants to go to a contender. He also said he wouldn't mind sharing the backfield and mentoring a younger back.
FISHINGURU
He can teach AP how to carry a football like a stud!
zepman
It would be a good fit if....LT could swallow his pride a little and make it work. If he doesn't...it could turn ugly real fast.
james_walleye
If he comes to MN it shouldnt be a secret to him what his role is going to be. If he doesnt want to except that role than he can move on. There shouldnt be any of this 6 games into the season pouting because he isnt getting enough touches. Jim Uran
If he's willing to visit Mn everyone including him knows what his role would be. I think that he seems like a classy guy and should know when to swallow his pride. I would love to have another veteran on our team. He's seen it all and can recognize what's coming. Although I don't think he's as good with the ball as Chester.
Scott K
I would rather have kept Chester!
Scott K
Quote:LaDainian Tomlinson will sign with the Vikings if an agreement on playing time and money can be reached, according to beat writer Judd Zulgad. That's a big "if." Tomlinson is going to demand that he takes carries away from Adrian Peterson and will probably want all the third-down work. The Vikings would be wise to let Tomlinson continue to test the market after his Thursday visit and explore the draft for Chester Taylor's replacement.lol, this was reported? zepman
Sounds as though he's not willing to swallow anything quite yet. If that's his attitude coming in...he's better off somewhere else.
Jim916
They said on the radio this morning that he has only fumbled 8 times in his career. Maybe they want him to show AP how to hold onto the ball!!
rayguy
If he had anything left the chargers would of kept him. That plus he has been a pain in the locker room and in print makes me wonder why the Vikes want him?
james_walleye
There were $$ issues with the chargers keeping him. The vikings will not have to pay as much $$ to sign him as it would have cost the chargers to keep him.
Scott K
Quote:Following a dinner Wednesday night with Vikings brass, free agent LaDainian Tomlinson said he could "possibly" sign with the club Thursday if all goes well.Tomlinson says he "heard what I like to hear," and that playing with Brett Favre would be a "blast." "I definitely can," LT added about coexisting with Adrian Peterson. "I would be coming here for him. He's in the prime of his career. I've done what he's trying to do, except win a championship."
