so only 96 days until the 2010 bass opener! i have the itch right about now!!! what is your go-to lure or bait for the opener? last year mine was the berkley hollow belly.

Brown/orange/yellow spinnerbait. Didn't take it off once, and caught alot of fish (although about half were pike).

Fought the cold weather this past weekend and hit up a part of the Mississippi that wasn't frozen over. Caught one smallie around 13 inches. It felt good to be out until it got too cold. I might have to get my bass fix on pool 2 until the opener.

what techniques do you guys use when targeting river bass this time of year? I have to admit I usually ignore open water until late April or early May... I should probably correct that problem this year!

I go to Monticello but the season closes this weekend. Drop shot catches them easy, but you can get them on anything. Its good practice. Just dont use livebait, those fish get beat up enough the way it is...

I go to Monticello as well. I usually throw 2 1/2- 3" tube jig. I agree with Tonka on the livebait thing.
