A quick easy way to fillet Catfish (Video)

Thats exactly how I do it. When I first learned on cats we used to skin them and gut 'em but thats a lot of unnecessary work in my opinion so now I just fillet them like that. Ialso use an electric knife and it makes short work of them.

Thanks for another great tip dtro, the eletric knife looks like it works rather well. It was nice meeting you guys on sat and watching the fishing clinic. A buddy of mine and I went back out on sun while the info was still fresh in my mind, fishing was good, alot of swing and a miss but we managed to catch a few. Thanks again!!!

Yeah the electric knife is nice. I'm a recent convert, as santa clause brought me one. You can get em as low as $15 bucks or so, not a bad price considering the other costs associated with fishing (the cost of consumables such as bait and gas will quickly overhshadow that investment).

I am really new at catfishing, so I have to ask this question. What "slot" length would you recommend me to keep that would give me the best tasting fish after I fillet them? After what certain length have you found that makes eating them not as good? Don't get me wrong, I practice catch and release. But I love eatin' them too!
