What it is is an excellent photograph, richly lit, well composed, great expression. It shouts "farm cat" to anyone familiar with farm country.

Definitley not a bobcat, however bobcats will breed with domestic cats, the only thing about the picture that leads me to believe this is not the case is that the head is small...bobcats have big heads. does look like a pretty tough cat with some huge paws.

Ditch cougar!

Jay, if I recall correctly, that's what you called my black panther that I posted last year.

This guy did look pretty cool sitting up there sunning himself and contemplating life.

Ditch cougars come in a variety of colors, from tabby to calico and anything in between. The breed like rabbits and can be found in large numbers on any rural road in the evening. Their preferred habitat is farm country. In some regions its great fun to gather your buddies, a cases of beer and a .22 to go ditch cougar hunting. In other areas people gather them up in huge numbers, try to tame the feral beasts and adopt them out to families.

Them's mean critters. One of them et my neighbor's baby brother. The kid was a skandahuvian so it warn't much of a loss.
