new truck

Ever since Toyota's problems surfaced it's like sharks in the water for the other auto makers and they are taking full advantage. As mentioned above, if you can get 0% or some good rebates I would jump on it right now. By the way, what model are you looking at?

I have always heard that the last day of the month is always the best day to buy a brand new vehicle. Used vehicles it doesn't matter though. Something about last day goes as final sales that month when they know what the quota is. Not sure if the dealers give the breaks or if the salesmen give the breaks. Can't recall were I heard that but it's been a few years ago.

Good luck!!!

the last day of the month is a good time. in order to do that you as a consumer need to know that XYZ dealership has the truck you want. Without the truck it doesnt mean much. A customer needs to be able to get up and walk out if they are not getting the deal they want. Walking out is the only effective method. I have sold cars before and unless your ready to walk, the dealer has the upper hand. Try to get some things thrown in as well like oil changes ect. end of the month is a great time to buy but if you know they have what you want it makes it easier. also never let the salesman know that the black f-150 supercrew on his lot is your only choice, or that no one else has that truck so you are forced to buy from him, he doesnt need to know that. he then has all the bargining power and you have none. the salesman should think you would take black or the dark blue or red...whatever. then YOU as the consumer have options...even if only the black one will do it for you. these are good places to start. with the internet these days, you don't ever have to step on someones lot if they dont have what you want, cuz you will know what they have before you ever go there. buying cars and selling cars is like a poker game, hold those cards close to the vest, and dont be afraid to bluff a little bit. hope this helps a little bit.

Just bought a New (2,678 miles) F-150 SuperCrew from a dealer in Rogers, I thought I got a heck of a deal, some guy just traded it in on a chev SUV. I traded a supercrew in and got a great deal but you can get some great deals on 2010 models. You can get into 2010 pretty decked out for around 30k. Good luck and I love my new f-150, sweet trucks.

whether it's a car or truck I stop by every dealership and talk to at least 2 salesmen at each. As they don't last long and when I am ready to buy I have a sales man/woman that I have already talked to. This is time consuminng yes but fun for me to get the best possible deal. I find a couple models that work well for me and I play the dealers aginst each other. I write the make model and price on each sales person business card. the price I write is always 1000-1500 less then what they offer. When I am at the next dealership I pull out my cards to compare. Dealerships are like rival HighSchools (Mine is always better then yours) we can do better than them we have better product. Walk away to wiegh your options do not buy on the spot you always go back with a better deal, and a but I really like you and your dealership and would like to give you a chance to win my business! when you get to a point where dealers start to turn you away becuase thay can not compete you know you have the best deal.

I took a diferent approach on the last two new vehicles I bought. After much research and some time spent at a couple dealers getting turned down, I determined where I believed the cut off was in price. I then went to the dealer that had the exact vehicle I wanted in stock and asked a few salesmen standing in the showroom "who wants to sell a car today?" Both times a guy stepped forward and said "I do". Then I handed them a piece of paper with a number on it that I would willingly pay but was a somewhat less than I thought they would readily accept. I told him "here is the deal, I will pay this amount and sign the papers right now if you accept, if not, I wont waste any more of your time, and will not be back." To my surprise both times resulted in a purchase.

Needless to say, I left both times feeling good about my purchase and that I got a good deal. (But sometimes wondering if I could have maybe squeeked a bit more out of the deal) wink

Its been a few years now since I've bought new so I dont know how that would work in these times, but it was kind of fun for me because I had the time to shop.

It must be nice to find a bunch of car/truck dealers/salesmen that want to sell a vehicle.

The last new one I bought - April 2006, my Sprinter van - I knew I would be going to an AMSOIL school in Superior, WI from my home in Florida. I went on line and found 12 dealers from Orlando, FL to Detroit, MI (I could pick it up anywhere, but of course I didn't tell them that). I could only get 2 to get back to me with a price and both of them were flat sticker. I would never buy a new vehicle for sticker! With the internet you can find out sticker, invoice and average selling price, just spend a little time doing your homework. I finally found a Freightliner dealer who wanted to sell a vehicle, and I wanted to buy one. He made me an offer that was right in the middle of average selling price and I took it with no additional haggling (I had already spent a month to get that far).

I Have only done it with used vehicles, but I find a comparable vehicle at 3-5 dealerships, then through email (that way they can't call you) work them all against each other. The ones that don't play ball get dropped ASAP and get no other communication from me. The ones that do go back and forth until the price stops moving and you have their best offers. This way you can always choose the best deal, or maybe the second best deal but you get the color/option/bonus you want.
