Headed north this weekend should I do Red or LOTW?

I have to say Red, too, especially if you want to play some cards and listen for the rattle reels after the sun goes down. LOTW is not known for a great night bite (like none at all), and Red is both a) closer, and B) a great night bite. As tonkapat alluded to, if you want dozens of 10-12" saugers and eyes, take the further drive, but I would be stopping at Red if it were me for a fuller trip and nicer 'eyes.

Go where all the 11 inchers are on the LOTW and odds are you'll catch alot of them. Go where the better fish are and you'll catch alot of them too. Certain techniques will yeild you the better fish as well. Alot of good guides on the LOTW if you guys are having problems catching those better fish, perhaps try that route next time, it's a BIG pond!!

Lake of the woods is the land of the 11"er. Red lake you can catch fish 24 hours a day. LOW is a further drive. Fish them both if u like. My vote goes to red.

Now that's funny..."Lake of the woods is the land of the 11"er."

Ok... confused

A few minutes ago I talked to a friend who just got back from LOTW Northwest Angle. He said they caught a potload of good sized Walleyes. They also got a bunch of big Perch and a few BIG Eelpout. They got stranded for a few hours in a post office waiting for a white-out to end on their way home. The guys are South Dakota farmers so they were smart enough to find shelter when the wind blew.

Another vote for LOW. Two weeks ago three of us had a 200 fish weekend. We caught many really nice eyes and sauger. I personally like to drink beer and sleep at night if possible considering it's hard to get back on a schedule when you get home if you are awake all night chasing rattle reels. Also, on LOW you have a shot at a true trophy, 30" plus, Red doesn't afford that oppurtunity.

PS - coworkers were up on Red the weekend we were on LOW and 8 of them only caught 50 fish all weekend.
