Bought an FL 20 50th anniversary unit. The stocking hat it came with was super warm though.

To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Vexilar we've created a Limited Edition Ultra Pack that comes with every option Vexilar offers plus each unit has a custom made Soft Pack and special unit graphics to highlight the 50th year. The FL-20 is the crown jewel of our sonar line-up and the most advanced three-color flasher in the world, so it seems only fitting to create this Limited Edition, 50th Anniversary Ice Pack Combo that highlights the best that Vexilar has to offer.

Stop at Stans today? Love the claim most advanced LOL maybe for 1995. Congrats on the new flasher.

Ya I was stupid and new it to. Could have gotten a LX-5 from scheels for $399. Instead bought the FL 20 for $549. Id did come with every option that there is dual beam, flex light and all the other goodies. Bought it on a whim since my nephew was with me and I new how bad he wanted to use my Showdown when it gets dark. So I used the FL 20 and let him use the showdown. Still came up with no fish though. The stocking cap that came with it though was warmer then hell.

Sounds like you took the Saturday STUPID TROPHY!!!! My sympathies to you!! If you're fishing the same kind of 'bowl shaped lakes' I am...you don't NEED anything more than the FL-8...... PERIOD!! The ONLY thing YOU NEED to do is to learn to read your flasher BETTER!! Bells and whistles are GREAT for cop cars and CARNIVAL RIDES, other than that....'bells and whistles' ONLY mean $$$$ to the manufacturer! IF this is your 1st flasher purchase, CONGRATS!! Then again.....,if you 'think you've up-graded'....MY condolences. Take the TIME to learn how to read your electronics!! DON'T expect them to HOOK the fish FOR you!! Phred52

My LX-5 shows fish a FL-20 will miss, I doubt an 8 will do any better. In fact I know it won't I used to own one, and 2 FL-18's.
I lget a kick out of the bickering over who's flasher is best. I don't know what kind of stealth technology fish you have in your lake but almost any of the flashers will pick up the smallest wax worm you can find. Granted the bottom zoom feature on some models may help you see an eye easier thats hugging the bottom tight. With my hummin bird I can count the individual zoo plankton when they show up, and can even tell when one passes gas. grin

Great unit, I added one to my gear this season as well. A very popular package and hard to find now, only 500 were made in the Vexilar 50th Anniversary limited edition series.

I own 4 FL-20's now, 2 0f which are "Cool Blue" Conversions...my new Vexilar FL-20 Ultra Pack 50th Anniversary Edition is also a "Cool Blue" Conversion unit. As far as I know the only one Vexilar made in the 50th AV Edition. She is my "Cool Blue Baby" ...I love it!

A wise long term investment on your part, best unit on the market by far in my experience.

Hey!speak for yourself.I don't love my stuff,I'm going to throw it all overboard when the thaw hits.Just kidding,my favorite flasher to date:small green clearwater classic.(Very light weight and lasted many DAYS on a 7ah battery)That flasher was small compact and lite. The only problem was it started getting moister under the face and it went kaput.Recently,My brother-in-law gave me his fl-8 which both units were purchased around 1986 or so.It all depends on what you want in a flasher. They all do the job pretty well these days. This old fl-8 is still ticking along so until it gives out I will use the (word that sounds like rap) out of it.Good luck!c63

could you explain your logic here? i'm not a vex or marcum guy, i'm just curious as to your logic on this theory. i know everybody loves to swear by their own equipment, but the guy above is right, every flasher out there will pick up a tiny little jig with a wax worm. its not like a fl20 ISNT going to show a fish thats on your screen?

17 feet of gin clear water, West Okoboji Iowa, my LX-5 next to my partners FL-20 units 3 feet apart. We can see anything that comes under us and the LX marked fish the 20 would not.

As far as differences the LX is crisper true 3 color, real zoom, far better target seperation, cheaper more features out of the box. Comes with better charging system, soft case and dual beam, plus Super Fine Line than no other company offers.

I swore by Vexilar for years but they are behinde the times in technology. Theres better out there now, I haven't used a HB yet so all I can compare is the Vex and Marcum.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
