Sometimes if you give it a light tap the noise stops. temp doesnt seem to affect when it happens it just does it intermitinly. I took it apart somewhat but couldnt get the knobs off. does anybody have this problem any fixis??? Does anybody know the size of allen screw in the knob.... Thanks and good luck catching .

Probably needs new/cleaned brushes. That happenend to my LX5, after cleaning works great. I don't know how to do it, but it can be serviced, possibly by someone who just knows how, not specifically the manufacturer, either way it is free or cheap to "fix". Good luck.

My 4 yr old fl-8 made the same loud screeching noise last week right when I tuned it on (cold) and then it stopped after a couple minutes. I tried to take mine apart to clean and got hung up on the Knobs. I tried everything short of snapping them off, and no luck...
