What a great topic...last year i was laid off and honestly fished a ton! Now I'm back to work and can't find time to get out as much. I am a sales consultant for a uniform company and it should come with some freedom, but for those of you in sales...you know there's really no freedom at all!

Cool and interesting thread! I feel for all you guys that don't have any work right now.

Good or bad, I have had more than I want for quite a few years now. I'm a mechanical engineer/project manager for a custom stainless steel fabricator. We do mainly food processing work but I also do a lot for a few other inductries and an ammo plant, although not the one huntingislife is at. May have to check into that wink I work mainly 7-5, M-F but a lot of our installations are done on weekends so I'm tied up then also. That, combined with 2 teens in a lot of activities, really limits our fishing time. But I thoroughly enjoy, and am thankful for, every minute of it.

Degree in Landscape Architecture, worked with Civil Engineers and Land Surveyors on municipal and private jobs. Examples of our included, Walmart(Austin, Bloomington, Apple Valley), Construction Staking for HWY 212, Eden Prairie Community Center Expansion, lots of Parks, Athletic facilities and Trails for Chanhassen, Lakeville, Eden Prairie, Etc.

Did this from May of 01' to Jan of 09', got layed off, but saw business dropping the whole 8 year run, alot of this hinged on Sept. 11th I would imagine!

Miss my job and some of my co-workers, but am fortunate to work in a shipping/receiving position since Dec. 09' with good pay, great benefits and seemingly really good people.

Designer jobs are dead right now, I believe architects were one of the hardest hit professions nationally in 09'.

Good luck all!
