mnhunter2
Is there anything that will help your regular atv gett through deep snow other than adding tracks?
Big Dave2
If you are talking about deep snow out on the ice, chains work well. I'm not sure I would want to use them on a hard surface(like while plowing a driveway)but if you had to they could be used there too. Chef
The chains will trash your driveway if it's asphalt. It's kind of a catch-22. You need the chains to get traction plowing the drive, but they tear up your asphalt.
Dave S
I have seen other, less expensive kits for ATVs where you only have tracks on the back and skis on the front. I'm not sure anyone markets such a kit any longer, but it would be cheaper than 4 tracks.
BobT
How deep you talking and under what riding conditions? If it's just a couple inches maybe over-size tires to increase clearance assuming you have the horsepower to handle them. If you have independent suspension, tighten up the springs to gain a little height. It will stiffen your ride so you'll want to take this into consideration. How about wider profile tires to provide a little more floatation? G.J.
There was a product at the ice fishing show in St Paul that was called JWheelz that might be an alternative. I'm sure they'd be easy to find on the net.
TUMBLEWEED
I found that the full skid plate sets by Ricochetare very helpful in keeping the machine from bogging down in deep snow. They act like the bottom of thesnowmobile's front cowling. The snow contacts thefull length skidplate and pushes the front of the ATVup and you don't break through and mire down. I still am running stock tires too. I would imagine it would be even better with the larger tires??
Larson15
For me a set of big horns with low PSI works
knoppers
big tires is the best option, there are some nice snow tires out there. I have ITP 27 inch 589's, and they go through the snow great. but they still will set you back a few hundred or more.
