A spruce grouse in a spruce tree, how fitting.

and the best I could do with this owl.

ISO 3200, AV 5.6, TV 1/25 hand held.

This will make my 4th GGO since last Saturday. 2 in Lake county and 2 in the bog. The others are not so cooperative.

Now all you need is a roughed grouse in a rough tree.

The yellow eyes saved you in the second shot. They really stand out. Under the circumstances, good job.

These are both beautiful shots--the beautiful environment of the first, and the haunting environment of the second really makes them. The last one packs an emotional wallop.

They both look great Jason. The Spruce has such great light that it really brings out all the color and the GGO I am sure came out nice and late but it is still so sharp and I like how everything is one shade but the eyes.

I am certain this is the same bird I have photographed numerous times. I may go back tonight to find it again, since it was probably out earlier then when I found it. I went for a cruise and made a loop around the bog before I swung back for one last chance and there it was. Hopefully it will hunt the same spot all winter this year too.
