See on some of the webcam's that it's really foggy/drizzly WAY up north. What's your weather? Here in SE Mn., we hit 61 sunny degrees today...about ready to pull out the grill! Right now it's 48 with rain. Supposed to snow on Wednesday or Thursday...maybe fishin'by Christmas?!? Oh, I wanna go ice fishin'...!!!

There is supposed to be colder weather moving in to the Midwest in a week, for what long-range forecasts are worth. After Monday, Nov. 30, the Rochester-area forecast on Accuweather and the Weather Channel calls for lows in the teens, and highs below freezing.

My guess is almost two weeks before anyone in Minnesota is fishing on hardwater, and three weeks before a lot of people get out. That stinks, but if I am right it is still better than the winters of three and four years ago, where there wasn't much ice to fish in southern Minnesota until after Christmas...never mind SE Iowa where I live now.

Last year we just got spoiled with a spectacular early ice year. Not many years can you fish end of November to end of March. It's gonna be about 2 weeks tops I think before alot of us get on. Some single digits in the extended forecast look pretty good. But that could all change. I guess more time to prepare everything cross the t's and dot the i's ya know.

Well, I'm going to look at it this way:

We had a cool August, Warm September, cold October, very warm November...It seems like the pattern is warm/cold/warm/cold. I'm hoping for a cold December. If it's warm in January, that's fine. Ice will be there, we just might nit be able to drive on it, which is ok with me.

The lakes want to freeze. Most of the ones I drive past in the morning are skinned overnight if the winds is'nt blowing. We just cant seem to get lucky on the overnight temps.

When in doubt, wait.

If that dont work, wait longer.

Man will never be bigger than nature. As much as we like to think we can change or predict things we can't, we are at the mercy of whatever life brings. Right now, life brings 47deg light winds and drizzle.
