Fawns still with doe's?

Recommended Posts

Last weekend I saw two does, both with twins, then, a little later, a lone doe with a buck. There isn't one time where the does kick off the fawns, it is more staggered, some are going to get bred early and regroup, others late, and kick them off.

Same here, we hunt just north on Milaca. I seen about 12 does in two wknds and fawns were with everyone of them, we seen 3 bucks and none of them were chasing does..

I hunt north of Milaca too and have not seen a single deer or much for sing of the rut as far as scrapes and rubs. Whats going on? I hope to bag a deer this Friday as it is the last day I can go out because of work!

I hunt Ottertail County and my 3 separate areas. Area 1 had 1 ground scrape, no tree rubs. Area 2 miles away had 2 tree rubs. Area 3 had about 6 tree rubs. A rough estimate most years between the 3 areas about 100+ tree rubs and maybe a dozen ground scrapes. Not sure why other than maybe there's a lot less bucks around and or they've been living in the irrigated corn and not traveling out of it much. Others in the area are all scraped and rubbed up. Was it the wet October ? Maybe the bucks in my areas found better areas to live in. I saw 1 doe in 9 days and she likely was bred already so my guess is the bucks are hanging near the largest concentration of does in the area but who knows just guessing as to what is up.
