BANDERSO
Step 1 is complete LMITOUT... you have opened up.Step 2. Letting go...We all know it's not good to hold on to the past but to look to the future.
MNTwinsFan
hahahaha! I was a Vikings fan up until about 3rd grade but then I figured out, even at that young age, that the Vikings had no future. Ex Smokers Ex Drinkers Ex Wives Ex Viking Fans None of them are any fun to hang out with.
Cooter
Quote:Cooter, and the Packer fans are what? Loyal? Yeah right, prior to the Victory over the Cowboys the Packer fans were ready to fire Thompson, Fire McCarthy, Fire Capers, Cut Rodgers, Burn down Favre's supper club and ask the NFL for a mulligan on the season, etc. etc. I'm still ready to fire Thompson and McCarthy, plus Favre is no longer a Packer so to heck with his steakhouse. Wanting to improve your team through change doesn't mean you're not a fan - if you weren't a fan you wouldn't give a hoot whether they're playing well or not. I don't remember seeing empty seats at Lambeau ever.
Big Dave2
hahahaha!I've recanted this story before but I'll mention it again...I was a Vikings fan up until about 3rd grade but then I figured out, even at that young age, that the Vikings had no future. Twenty-five years later and they still haven't proven me wrong. I'm just glad I already had a comprehensive understanding of the Vikings franchise at that tender age so that I didn't to suffer through a quarter-century of mediocre play. Would you mind telling us what team the 8 year old you decided to be a fan of?
pegleg
Cooter, there might not have been any empty seats at the Pack Vike game at Lambeau but there were a heck of a lot of Viking jerseys at the game so either the Packer fans converted to be a Viking fan for a day or they scalped their tickets to Viking fans for that game. Wadinator
Would you mind telling us what team the 8 year old you decided to be a fan of? I'll bet he's a 49er fan. They were pretty hot back then with Mr. Montana at the helm (unless... LMTOUT's allegiance has changed a time or two since 3rd grade).I'm one of those fans that just can't help themselves. I grew up going to Grandma's house after church every Sunday, stuffing myself full of roast beef and mashed potatoes, and watching the Vikes while listening to my Dad and uncles argue about, complain about, and cheer on the Vikes. It's ingrained into my being. I never chose to be a Vikes fan, and I could never chose not to be. Its just part of who I am, for better or worse.
solbes
I agree with you that I never questioned it as a choice. My Dad roots for them, I've always rooted for them. That's my team in the Purple.I can remember some great moments too, but it's always those agonizing playoff losses that keep me a little more grounded during the regular season. I think it's how we cope as Vikings fans, at least post 1998. What really gasses me though, is what WOULD happen if we win it this year. How would that make the Packer faithful feel? Down deep, ouch... To get on with it, I'd say "why don't the Vikes" run more play action with AP in there? I see them do it with Chester some, but I think we'd be more effective with AP. PierBridge
[my purple glasses off]LMITOUT- Its obvious you're not a Vikes fan, Actually.... LMIT is a Viking fan...PERIOD! I believe he's just one of the many disgruntled and frustrated Viking fans that have not recovered from the 98 debacle and is just venting and protecting/preparing himself for another major letdown. For instance he has a Viking Favre Jersey that he has gloated about and even put into a safe place when Favre had YOU guys believing he was going to stay retired. Among other dead give aways to Limit's allegiance are the multiple T-Jack response's. A non Viking fan would not put the time, anger, frustration and aggressiveness into a topic about a QB if he didn't care or wasn't a Viking Fan! There's a myriad of other subtle clues that have led me to KNOW LMIT is a Viking fan and Frankly if we do win the Super Bowl LMIT will be as happy as any of us and will wear his Favre Viking Jersey proudly! Well maybe not quite as happy ...

LMITOUT
Why do you want to know? What does it matter what my team is?
BANDERSO
Then LMITOUT, why does it matter so much to you what our (meaning the guys on this site who cheer for the vikes)team is that WE cheer for?
solbes
It's Friday and I'm bored. So I going to put up my top four guesses of LMITOUT's favorite team. If he said the Vikes had no future, there had to be a reson to believe his "new" team did:1)Bears, staying within NFC north. Actually a good team back in the 80's, were they not?2)Redskins, Hogs dominated for quite awhile. Pig snouts are fun to wear, don't know about the women's dresses.3)49'ers, who didn't like Joe Montana, Steve Young, and Jerry Rice?4)Giants, LT on harcore drugs sacking QB's, how cool was that? Big Dave2
Why do you want to know? What does it matter what my team is? Whoever it is, your not very proud of them, thats for sure!
Big Dave2
Why do you want to know? What does it matter what my team is? Since you are such an awesome football mind that even at the tender age of 8 you knew exactly which team had the most "future", I thought maybe you would feel compelled to enlighten me as to what team I SHOULD have seen a future in? BANDERSO
That sounds like a fun game Solbes, I would like to play....1) Detroit- up until Barry Sanders left and that broke his already broken heart.2) Tampa Bay W/ Vinny- Then the NFC north restructured and gosh, who can LMITOUT cheer for now up here.3) Dallas- If nothing else he could look at the cheerleaders. Then they stunk it up after Aikmin left.4) Nobody. LMITOUT decided to cheer for NOBODY!How'd I do LMITOUT
