JBL21
I just broke the cable on my winch (warn 2500#). Just curious which one to use and why.
aczr2k
I'd go rope, use amsteel line, no more cable splinters, easy to throw it out to someone on "higher" ground.
Walleye Guy
Replace it with the cable that Warn puts on thier XT line of winches. The stuff is great with no kinks or breaks or threads coming out of it like happens with cable. I believe its made out of kevlar.
BobT
I wonder too if rope is possibly safer. I would imagine that breaking a steel cable under load could be quite a bit more dangerous than rope. Not saying either won't be potentially dangerous but the thought of a steel missile flying through the air sounds worse than a rope missile. huntingislife
Rope, hands down. It simply falls to the ground when it breaks. Plus you can just retie it and keep going.
RonT
Rope is my choice hands down. Had a cable break last spring that came back and hit my son in the face. Fortunatly nothing serious, but was scary for a short period of time.
Dozer
Without a dought ROPE. So much better in every way. Do some searching on the web and you can find some pretty decent deals on it.
GatorBait
I agree, I use rope exclusively for plowing also as you don't have to worry about kinks and getting the wonderful metal splinters and no more worrying about the dangerous backlashes. No way i'll ever use the metal wire again.
