Vexilar Limited Edition FL-20

Has anyone seen or purchased the new Vexilar Limited Edition Ultra Pack FL-20? Apparently they only made 500 of them with all the best Vexilar has to offer to celebrate their 50th anniversary. Looks like a Marcum LX5 in a blue soft pack.

Actually it comes in a totally new redesigned Red and Black case, not the blue soft pack. It also is a duel beam unit Ultra Pack, has a totally new design power charging system that also will plug into a exterior 12 V power source such as a ATV or truck for power as needed, and a newly redesigned more compact smart charger, and also comes with all them extra toys made to fit a Pro Pack or Ultra pack...and the Fl-20 unit itself of course..and it's a 50th Anniversary limited edition model of 500 made and the serial numbers will reflect that distinction. They are proving to be a very popular package option, more than half have already sold, they are moving very quickly.

I got one, it's very nice, I'm very pleased with the package and it's value.

Although mine has an extra distinction of being a "1-of-unit"...it is also a "Cool Blue" model...and the only one made like it out of the 500 50th AE's.

So there is 499 Vex 50th AE's + 1 Vex 50th AE-CB-BWE = 500. wink

If I am still kick'n in another 50 years, I'll likely take it out of my shack, and shuffle on over to Vexilar, and have them put a 100th decal on it. I'm bet'n my 50th will still be humming along, and Vexilar will be around to do it for me.

Well said, Ed!!!! Those that say it's no more than a special sticker, obviously have never even seen or read anything about the special edition. mad

I think it’s pretty cool of Vexilar to offer that up.

Now you can explain to your buddies why you are catching more fish then them, “well DUH it’s the special edition model, only 500 made, and one of them is right here before your eyes”. Just the cool factor alone is worth it.

Plus it will probably hold its resale value a little better too.

I guess it would be cool as a conversation piece and may have value for a collector but it still is just a Vexilar which is built as a fishing tool to be used . Heck my Jiffy 30 has the 50th anniversary sticker on it but is just a regular jiffy meant to cut holes and used as such . Would I pay extra . NO, but each to their own .

There is at least 11 different Vexilar FL series flasher packages and/or configurations offered, the 50th is only "1" of those offered this year, so...if that is not the one you wish, there is 10 more at different price points to work with. The 50th is a SE one time package, some may want an all inclusive deal, others may not...and for them there is plenty of other Vexilar package's to build from. Options are a good thing, it's just an another option for the consumer.

yes i own the special edition fl-20, but the add ons are what sold it

fl-20 w/ dual beam 539.95

softpack 34.99

super flex light 29.99

total 604.93

50th anni. fl-20 599.95 plus knowing you have something a little different and you get a sweet hat and a new beer holder

yes you could save some money and get the job done with a diff brand, but with me i bought this to replace a 15 year old fl-8, and i know in another fifteen years vexilar will be there to help me out with replacement parts if it gets backed over or dropped off a 20 story building

in the end its like comparing a cadillac to a pontiac

wow that sounds pretty cool i wish i could have held out one more year to replace my lx-5 with my fl-20 to get the 50th edition. i just asked my wife if i could buy her a new flasher but she said no. so i'll stick with it until the 100th edition comes out.

Turbo5oh...What do you think of the NEW FL- 20 series Red and Black soft pack case design? smile

I personally like it a lot. I find those particular redesign changes way overdue, much more user friendly and a far greater range of vertical and horizontal vision and accessibility in the front and the ear. I didn't like the old soft pack case's on the FL-20's..they kept creeping up on the wide view flat screen display, the new one will not. The side access ports are nice, and the large exterior ducer puck nest in the rear will come in handy for a lot of things. You will also notice the new soft pack will grip the ice better, a bit more traction on the bottom of the case.

More like comparing a Pontiac to a Pontiac that has had a "Pep Boys" makeover. shocked

I don't see any of these special editions making it to a Barrett Jackson Collector's auction down the road, but as far as adding up the extras, it makes sense if you want that stuff.

I'm getting a 61 year sticker made for my Strikemaster auger, along with an 18 year sticker for my LX3. wink

Dido on the wife saying I would have to wait for the 100 year set-up!! I just want to put my $.02 out there. I just had my FL-20 convert to the blue light and the color helps me out. I just dropped off my buddys Fl-18 last week (Vexilar shop just off Old Shakopee Rd.) and got that one converted too...they cleaned his...moved the daul beam switch to the right spot so it does not get damaged...put a cover over the switch that that unit was missing too. It looked like they gave me the wrong one back!.(all for just the converision price too.) Very nice people at this location too.(got a prop for a old elec motor a couple years ago for like $5. could not find it anywhere!)

it's just a accessorized ultra pack and it is cheaper to buy an ultra pack and put al the accessories that the anniversary pack has on it by 10 dollars

You need to recheck your math...read up a few posts..that is the breakdown of the build cost if you do it piece by piece to achieve the same end..but without it being a true serialized 50th Anniversary edition.

hey Ed i like the new lay out of the softpacks couldnt fit the options of the ultra packs any better, the only thing that could make this set up better would be some type of easier way to store the cable, like some type of retractable cord reel or something. ( p.s. ive met you a few times at Gander. im the tall guy that usualy comes in wearing the luther gmc uniform that loves fishing the red)

and guys yes, you got me! i got screwed over by vexilar they marketed a big piece of garbage with shiny bells and whistles. i fell for it hook, line, and shinker.

listen if youre looking for a ultra pack fl-20, w/ dual beam trans why not drop another 60 bucks and get what youre eventualy going to buy anyway. i didnt buy it to be "cool" or show off i fish by myself 90% of the time the other times the wife and my dog could care less what the heck the blinky lights are doing.

oh and trapper youre E-accent is way to thick i didnt under stand a thing you typed. EH?

Turbo5oh...if the tackle box in the rear is not very critical for you in day to day use...just remove it. You have an instant cable wrap on a Ultra Pack that way. I have wrapped up a 10' extension cable on them... and the standard Vexilar ducer attached to the end of that...and a Vexilar splitter box, so it will take a lot of cable that way in the back of the Ultra Pack unit. Why you may ask...all the garbage...so I can read two holes up to 13' apart...with a flick of a switch...what else...Eh. smile

I have a couple more interesting "Tweaks" to fit that pack too..drop in...I'll tip you off to it. You might find them useful..or at the least temporarily amusing.

That's if your not over-done with tweaks and useless unnecessary overpriced toys already. wink

one thing that i did right away was added a weather proof toggle switch to the extra hole and wired up the flex light as cleanly as possible to make the light a little easier to turn on.

i got so excited to use it i took it out on the boat with me last weekend.

im gonna have to restrain my self from running out on the first inch of ice to fire this bad boy up

That is a good answer you converted on the Flexlight.

I suspect the next generation of the Vexilar Flexlight will plug into the new charger cord twist lock cord, and also may have a twist switch built into the end, much like a quality L*E*D flashlight utilizes, with wide/narrow ocular beam adjustment. Possibly even a couple black light L*E*D's mixed in, to highlight untra thin fishing line and floats in the hole. wink

For now, I am not too worried about the power consumption of leaving the Flexlight on...as it uses very little juice and Vex's have a long run time between required charges anyway.

I can now run my shack Oznium L*E*D lights off my Vex, and the Flexlight, and maybe my even my GPS, for a long night and not run into concerns of running out of power. The 10 amp battery will quickly recover overnight on the charger, and be ready again to rock the next day.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
