brittman
Can you forecast when MN will get more than 36 hours without rain or snow?
riversmallmouth35
Heard from a friend that he was going to start combining this weekend. It seems early with all this wet weather but he is the farmer. His farm is about 15 minutes North east of St. Cloud.
buckx37x
most corn will come out late, guys with cattle can take it earlier as high moisture and use it to feed cattle if they have storage. but by far most will be late.
Gordie
the more it rains the longer it will take and some will wait until after the ground freezes hard as not to bury the combine or trucks and tractors.
jigginjim
So much for deer hunting. With all the corn in, you would need an army to push the deer out of the corn.
311Hemi
A friend in the Redwood falls area says if the weather was to straiten out now and cooperate they would expect to be done in the fields near the end of November. If not...who knows when....
carpshooterdeluxe
i know a few guys in western MN that have switched to corn from beans for the time being, but most guys are struggling to do anything right now. of the guys that are actually getting some beans out, many are drying them, or taking dockage at the elevator for higher than desirable moisture. its going to be an interesting fall to say the least. Scott Stein
there is a ton of corn out around here. Most guys have switched from beans to corn just for the fact of trying to get something done. Most corn is around 25-30 percent. We've taken around 40 acres out so far and were goin back at it today
BucksnDucks
Alot of farmers ive talkd to are having to dry there beans. A first in along time for all of them! Another large acreage farmer I spoke with yesterday said he had all but 20 acres of beans left, then he was dun with them. As others posted there still able to pick corn in these wet times, jus to be able to get ahead of the Jones's! Some predict they will have a large amount still to pick up til Thanksgiving. If thats the case, we might be able to see a few deer around south central mn after the orange army invades!
broken_line
last year we were done with beans, this year they are at 16%+ and we havent even started beans. im thinkin ill be icefishin as we dig again..

icehousebob
A friend of mine has about 100 acres of beans by Pine City. With the soil conditions there, he hasn't gotten into the field and says the beans are starting to go down. He may lose his entire crop. Hunting conditions seem like a small problem compared to that.
