12V Seat Warmer in the Portable

I was curious if anyone has used a seat warmer for the portable ice shack? I fish from my boat pretty late in the season and have been throwing around the idea of picking one up for fall/winter. Any suggestions or experience with them would be appreciated.

How Ironic. I wonder how the clam heater's stack up against a car seat heater? They don't have the back heating element like most car heaters and are about 20 bucks more than a typical low-end 12v seat warmer. Thanks for the tip CJH. I'll keep my eyes peeled.

No problem! Not sure of the specifics, but I think it would be great for late season fishing out of a boat or out of a bigger ice shack that is pulled by a sled/wheeler.

I love my arctic armor as well. I'm trying to leave the buddy heater at home and find an alternate source of warmth to save on bulk and weight. I figured the seat warmers might be the ticket. Getting the fingers warm would be rather easy and I wouldn't have to worry about heater placement or ventilation.

How large of a battery do you think a 12volt seat warmer would need? It's not going to run from a Vex battery for long. If you'll need a deepcycle, that pretty much weighs more, and takes as much space, as a gas heater.

I think its a cool idea and could potentially be better than carrying a heater and a bunch of small tanks or one large tank. If I hear good things, I might try it instead of the Buddy. The convenience of leaving the heaters attached to the seat and just throwing in a vex battery is appealing......

I have an AA suit and that does keep me warm, however the heater does make the experience more enjoyable!!!!

Given a choice, I would likely rather plug in electric socks if needed than heat up my butt...but...that's me.

I use Frabill shacks with the deluxe seating...my butt is good...very warm....me bunz be nice-n-tostty Eh. smile

Yet if'n that special Gall Pall is with...I may see a purpose for it maybe. wink

Remember the AA suite has that extra padding on the back side so it may take a while to feel the effects of a seat warmer if at all. I know sitting on the ice I dont get cold in that area just like the knee's so I would assume it would'nt let heat in just like the cold.

The seat warmer was intended to be used as part of a one-man flip style for run and gun applications and keeping weight light as possible since I'm pulling gear by foot. Getting heat through the foam insert on the bibs might be a bit of an issue, nice thought croixflats. Thanks to those who chimed in with helpful responses.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
