AWESOME BUCK!!!!! I would love to even see a deer this year that big....lucky you passed on the 8 point....I would have had a hard time doing that myself. I only dream of a buck like that...even in rifle season...someday! Congrats!

heck yeah! beauty. i know what you're talking about with the short season! last year i shot my buck opening night of archery season! kinda screws up the rest of your season, but hey, you wont hear me complaining about it! grin

:)Congrats a great deer. I always say I wish I could get my deer early and do some fall eye fishing. But I think I would miss being up in the tree during the rut. Nice shot also looks like the pumper took a hit maybe.

Great deer, he sure looks to me body wise like no more that 3 1/2 years old. Maybe I just guess poorly. I shot a buck very similar to that in body about 5 years ago, fairly nice rack, maybe around 100", he weighed 185. We were figuring no more than 3 1/2, but me may have been wrong. It's amazing to me how much they weigh when they're long & tall even if they don't look fat.

Thanks guys. I brought it into the taxidermist today, hes gonna try to age it and have someone come in to officially score it for the record book after it dries. I might try to sneak out one last time tomorrow night for a doe before I head out to work. Ill be in Iowa for a month and wont be back until rifle season so keep me updated on how its going. Ive never been that long without hunting this time of the year so I might go a little crazy! Good luck guys!
