Yes there were problems with them. They are non repairable when it dies. You might get a different camera if you send it to Marcum, but with the change over in ownership I cant say for sure. The cameras leak. They couldnt remedy the problem so they were discontinued. Good luck, take VERY good care of it.

Should I take it back? what are the odds of it leaking? some leaked, most, all? If it's going to leak do they do it right away?

And I just love this camera too. cry

Have you looked at the Cabelas panning camera?

I just was looking at them on sale for $170 but it seems they have a lot of problems too, if you read the reviews. Sounds like they leak also but the problems don't stop there.

I purchased my 560 2-3 years ago and I had to return it three times before I got one that worked. And yes they all had problems with them leaking right away. The 2nd and 3rd unit came came directly from Marcus as well. With that said I had no problems with the 4th unit now for the past two years.

Hold off, on the cabelas cam, They supposedly have a new one replacing it this season. If you get one of last yrs, make sure the circut board in the camera is blue, not green.

So if I took the camera out in my boat and put it in 50' for 10 minutes and it came up with no leaks would it be safe to say it's more then likely not going to leak?

The next thing would be if Reeds would take it back if it's been tested to be a leaker or would they make me use my "warranty" and send it to marcum for a comparable replacement.

Mine leaked, probably 2 years after I bought it. Also lost the video feed to the monitor at the same time. Marcum repaired it and I soon after sold it.

If you can get ahold of Marcum Customer Service right now, more power to you. If you do, let me know how, I have an LX-3 that need repairs for the 4th time. I am done with them.

I called the c.s # on MarCums site and talked to Jon this morning and he said he's at his new desk.

He answer my questions and told me the VS560 wasn't discontinued because a leaking but because of the contacts on the rotating camera which didn't make me feel much better. I don't know what to think right now I'm afraid to try it out and it will more then likely go back to to the store without ever getting wet. I have read a lot of post about the water leaking, but on the other hand how many people have them that don't leak? who's going to start a post "My VS560 doesn't leak" you're going to hear more about the products that have problems. As far as warranty I would get a comparable camera which more then likely would be the VS820 but I have already have a VS500 that I plug into a 17" LCD. So I don't want a 820, and feel it would be a step down from my 500 for me.

Maybe I should wait to see if some one comes out with a comparable camera that can be fix under warranty or after a year, out of pocket.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
