Gilgamesh
Anyone know how to make this stuff? I know it has everclear in it but not sure what else or how to make it. If you're from NODAK you might know about this drink.
MNHuntress
I've got a recipe from a guy in ND that has berries (any kind), sugar, and some other boozes in it and it all ferments for some time is that what you're looking for? There's no everclear in the recipe though.
hoggsback
Not sure if that is what Gilgamesh is talking about, but I would like a look at that recipe MNHuntress.
Gilgamesh
I know it had everclear, some cherry flavoring, and probably sugar. Just dont know how much of each or how to exactly make it
Gilgamesh
Never mind, I think I found the recipe. I recommend everyone to try this, its amazing! You might have to go out of state to find the everclear though. http://library.ndsu.edu/grhc/foods/recipe/byhre.html
Chef
Is this also known as Sugarbrine? (pernounced SOOgarbrine). It's everclear and burnt sugar, purified water, 60-40 mix. My friends in Strasburg/Linton showed me how to make it years ago and I ALWAYS have a bottle of it in the freezer. It's called wedding punch too. hanson
Oh yes... Redeye. Commonly served at North Dakota wedding receptions. Everclear, Sugar, Water, and I've always seen it with Cherry flavoring. No surprise that NDSU has the recipe on their HSOforum. Hope everyone has a cab ride home!
marine_man
Has anyone on here made any?I made some last night.. but am thinking some flavoring is in order.. any idea what to use or how much?marine_man
Chef
My ND contacts are experts. They have been using the Root Beer and other flavored potions available for sno cones to adulterate theirs. The Root Beer gets my vote for 2nd place (over the non-flavored)...
marine_man
Ok.. thanks for the tip!marine_man
BigWadeS
I have used cherry flavored Kool-aid! I might have to try the rootbeer
zamboni
Is this the same Redeye that the guy in the Tom Cruise movie Cocktail drinks religiously?
marine_man
I have used cherry flavored Kool-aid! Do you just use the mix then; no extra sugar, etc?marine_man
Crickschop04
I believe when I had it, they called it burnt sugar whiskey.
