wow Jake, that's a lot of lures. Is the river there exceptionally low, and that's how you're able to wade out and get what looks to be a couple decade's worth of lures?

That's one thing I learned when I was a kid, you never want to wade around in a river barefoot, too many hooks! The Crow River in hutch was snag-central.

did a little carp control in my walleye creek this weekend 20 fish caught in 1 hour off of corn using light rods with 6lb test mono 7719_1221238618877_1466287062_30616.jpg

10 pound carp my buddy caught

all in all a best hour's worth of fishing i've ever had

you kept them??

why?

report from today:

went out on lake winona equipped only with a super ultralight rod and 2l line. my goal, get a fish of at least a mid teen. the day started horribly, i forgot my cameras memory carp, so i couldnt take any more than 12 pictures. then while wading i dropped my phone in the water. i was [PoorWordUsage]! but with such bad luck with electronics. i had a hunch the fishing would be good. but.... i was not expecting it to be as good as it was!

i ended the day after i dropped my camera in the water. both phone and camera are drying as we speak. pictures to come!

i feel your pain...ben there done that......na but this is a small steam that's just way to thick with carp in certain areas, for example way before i new there where good numbers of walleye in this stream i was catpackin it for 2 miles or so and some parts you would get stuck in a good foot of mud because the carp steired the bottom up so much....don't worry we didn't wast them, my buddy put them in his grandma's garden

That is my favorite reason to kill a fish but I will tell you that walleyes are much better fertilizer and really makes my tomatoes in my garden delicious!

lol you know i was just kidding about keeping them. i just wanted to see the reaction jake would give me ; ) . truth be told i do have a soft spot for carp....now if it was legal to use them for cutbait then it would be a differnt story.

camera and phone are both wrecked... i cant get the pictures.

i know most wont believe me since i dont have pics. but here are the weights

i got an 8

then an 11

then a 13

then a 12

then a 9

then a 15

then a low 20 spooled me, so i put on my abu garcia cardinal

then i got a 17

then a 21

and then a new pb at 25lbs.

the final fish was a 9

all on the super UL and 2 or 4lb test

the guy that helped me land the 25 took pictures with his phone. so i gotta find him and hopefully he can at least email me a pic of that.

i was fishing grounds of lake winona that until yesterday had been untouched by fisherman

And if you kept them, you won't be able to do it again!

Good for you.

You may want to use a heaver rod. With a fish that big on a UL light rod you tend to fight the fish on the reel and the rod is over powered.

Congratulations on making the 25lb mark.

i've seen some super ul's at fleet farm.....are they any good?

i think they would be fun to target bass, trout, and of course carp with

the one i have, an HT micro master (7 foot model) is absolutely perfect when sight fishing for carp it casts small jigs like nothing and it stands up to even a 20lb carps brutal run. and they are also pretty sensitive. so as long as you dont horse the fish. you will love the rod wink

What kind of jig are you throwing? I'm sure others would like to know also.

any jig you will throw for panfish also work for carp. tiny worms, twistertails, tubes. black white yellow and pink are my faves

i also tried turning on my camera today and it worked!!!!!! but half the pictures are gone. but here are the ones that were on it still
