Bull Gills After Dark

My freind is in northern minnesota right now pounding bull gills 10-12" monsters just wondering if anyone else has caught big gills after dark it's varey unusual in my book. It's 10pm and he's still catching them wish I was there.

I used to fish a lake that had very clear water and those gills wouldn't start biting until dark and bit for about 2 hours after that.

When I was in college we used to run down to a Detroit Lakes area lake and pound the big gills all night long. It's the only time I've ever caught numbers of them at night though. Needed a black or purple jig to catch them...nothing else would work.

I have caught them in stained water after dark, I must have plunking them in the head.

Earlier this year we did well on the bigger gills all day and into the night. One night we left at 8 and they were still biting good in Late Dec.

after dark and in the evening is a great time for MONSTER gills. thats true for all seasons. my pb bluegill was caught fly fishing for bass after dark. i was using a 3" popper along some emergent vegitation in a small lagoon on lake le homme dieu. she weighed in at 2lb 1oz and was 12 5/8" long. i really thought she was a good bass until i was landing her
