Premium Filters

Doing some yearly maintenance and was wondering if it's worth spending the money for the "better" name and more expensive air and oil filters??

For as often as you change them why not buy a quality name brand? Do an internet search and you won't find many fans of the cheap ones in the orange box.

i would go with the better quality ones. i dont like to cheap out on things like engines they are costly to fix.

If you mean K&N then yeah. They let more air in and still block the dust so you should get alittle horsepower gain and you never need to replace them just oil them. Otherwise the rest are all about the same I think Just foam.

IMHO unless you have a high performace quad, the factory filters are more than adequate.

I run the K&N on my Sportsman 800 and have had no issues.

The reason I guess is that if you over oil the filters, it has screwed up the MAP sensor wire. Also can ams have a pre filter, no clue on polaris and others

Not true on the newer Suzuki Kingquads 2005's and newer as the factory paper filter is junk and lets dirt in. Uni filters and Twin airs are a MUCH better filter than stockers. I wouldn't own a K&N though.

I have had great luck with UNI and Twin Air

And once a stocker gets dirty or dusty its done...however with my UNI I can spray with the cleaner give it a good rinse, and then re apply the oil and I can re use it again.

If you do go with the high flow filters like Twin Air or Uni, check with them to see if they suggest rejetting your carb. They are going to let more air through and may cause a lean condition.

A guy named Bob has a Cycle Supply that carries Twin Air.

Your local dealer can get aftermarket filters through their parts wholesalers.

They are adequate but if you wanna tweak out alittle more performance the better filters will help. They wont give you huge gains though.

ive only had experience with artic cat and polaris, but the factory filters were more then adequate for what i use the machines for. I did go to high flow airfilter on my bike, it made a noticable difference on it
