Deer Movement times?

I was only out one morning & didn't see anything, although I jumped deer near my stand in the dark.

Saturday night I saw deer at dark, 7:45, on an edge. Tuesday I saw the first ones just after 6:00. I expect they may move early again today since it's overcast & rained most of the last two days.

Tuesday I saw 4 deer at 5:55pm, Wednesday 4:50pm and then at 7pm. It was really foggy and walking in in the dark was spooky. I didn't hunt the mornings. The mosquitos were active at all times though. This is in the Walker area.

Was up in the stand Sunday night no later than 4:45pm and saw a doe eating in the beans along a tree line.
Didn't see anything else until, I'm guessing 6:30pm and that's when I saw 2 deer come across the bean field.
Hoping some cooler weather will get the deer moving.

I had my trail camera out for a few weeks now, the deer have been moving almost exclusivly at nite where I am at. Out of about 70 pics I would say less than 10 have been taken in daylight. When the deer move at nite, they were moving at all hours of the nite, not just at dusk or dawn.

Just my opinion of course, but if the deer are not comming to the open fields before fading light, when it gets to dim to shoot, meet them halfway! Get something going on between the supposed bedding and the probable feeding areas...this is an evening thing, used to work for me!

the full moom can really have an effect on deer movements. i have sat after hours with a full moon just to see if any thing would come out. a field would void of deer til about 10 min after the season would close; then the deer would be piling out into it.i have done this several times. if you are hunting an area that the deer don't get bothered to much, i have seen a lot of movement during the mid morning. once rut starts ; then it is an all day thing. del

Since it was drizzling last Fri. at my hunting shack I got into the stand over looking a 1.5 acre food plot at 3:00pm. I sat for about a 1/2 hour and then I gave the bleet can a couple of turns. 2-3 minutes later a yearling doe came out of the brush straight away from me about 50 yards away. After she was there for 5-10 minutes, I gave the bleet can a couple more turns, out walks a doe, another yearly doe and a fawn. They grazed the food plot for another 1/2 hour and all of a sudden they all became alert. Now out walks 2 does and 2 fawns from behind me to the left about 30 yards away. They all beganing grazing in the food plot, this lasts for about 1 hour, several times I have deer walk within 10 yards of my stand but with so many eyes and ears I never had a good opportunity to draw. At around 5 pm all 8 of the deer became alert and out of the same trail the 2 does and 2 fawns walked out of comes a spike buck. He decides to chase deer all over the field for 10-15 minutes before he begins to graze. Now I have 9 deer in the food plot, the spiker decides to walk right up in front of me and he even came in the little trail I have cut from the field into my stand. He get's about 5 yards from the base of my stand and even looks straight up at me, he never even flinched, just turn around and walked back into the field. As the sun began to set 7 of the 9 deer walked back into the woods, the spiker and a yearling doe stayed in the field. Now it's time to get out of the stand, but they won't leave, I used my grunt call to see how they would react, and both came walking right toward the stand, I banged my release against the metal ladder stand and they continued to come towards me, I dropped an arrow to the ground with no effect. Finally I stood up, took off my safety harness and started to climb down the ladder, both deer still standing in the field about 30 yards away, they finally left when I walked out the trail into the field.

A great hunt even though nothing was shot. The biggest problem I had was I was also running my video camera and just when the second set of 4 deer came into the field I ran out of battery and the spare was in the shack...BOOOOOO
